The guys ran to the other beach house as fast as they could. Nick busted the door open and rushed into the house.
"Nick! Mel's hurt!" Julie yelled as soon as he entered the room. Nick hurried over to Melissa who was clutching the back of her head.
"Mel, are you okay?" He asked placing his hands on either side of her face.
"I think so, but my head hurts."
"What happened?" Howie asked Alyssa.
"Someone was destroying our windows by throwing rocks through them. Mel knew something was wrong and she got us away from the windows. She's the reason we are all okay!" Alyssa stated to everyone.
"It was Adam, Nick." She said looking up at him.
"You saw him?"
"No, but I know it's him. Who else would it be?" Nick helped Melissa up and sat her down on the sofa.
"Is everyone else okay?" Jonathon asked holding Julie.
"We are all fine, thanks to Mel." Jeni replied grabbing a hold of her hand. Melissa squeezed her hand and gave her a smile.
"Mel, let me see the back of your head. I want to make sure you aren't hurt." Nick asked touching her hand that was over her head.
"I'm fine Nick; I think it's just a bump."
"I'll feel better if I can look at it." He smiled at her as he sat on the coffee table, facing her.
Melissa slowly removed her hand from her head, wincing in pain.
"Mel, you're bleeding!" Nick said holding her blood covered hand. "AJ, call an ambulance!"
"Nick, I'm fine, I don't need an ambulance."
"Yes you do, you are bleeding from your head. You are going to get check out and don't argue with me."
"The wound isn't deep, so you won't need stitches, but take it easy. The amount of blood you lost could make you lightheaded. Take it easy for the next couple of days and you should be fine." The paramedic stated to Melissa.
"I'll make sure she takes it easy." Nick stated.
"Keep this bandage on for the rest of the night. By morning, you should be able to take it off. If you have any complications, come to the hospital."
"Thank you, I promise if I have any problems I will come." Melissa said and then the paramedic left.
"Ms. Barnes, I'm Officer Garner. I need to take your statement." Melissa told the officer everything that happened, not leaving out one detail.
"Ms. Barnes, do you know who did this?"
"Yes, his name is Adam O'Neil."
"Can you prove it was him?"
Melissa just shook her head. "No, I can't, but I know it was him."
"If we can't find any evidence proving Mr. O'Neil did this, then we can't file charges against him."
"Tell me something I don't know."
"So you are telling me that if we can't prove Adam was here that he will be free to do this again. Or something even worse!" Nick yelled.
"Nick please." Melissa pleaded with him. Nick looked at her and held her hand.
"Are we done officer?" He asked.
"Yes, thank you for your cooperation. If we find anything we will call you."
"Thank you Officer Garner."
After the paramedics and officers left, Nick asked an old family friend, who was a doctor to come over and check her out. He gave her some painkillers to ease her headaches and help her rest. Nick sat in a chair in the corner of the room, watching Melissa sleep.
He watched as her chest raised and fell with every breath she took. "She was breathing, she's alive, and thank God for that. If Adam had hurt her…no don't think about that. She is okay and safe…for now." He ran his hands through his hair. "What am I going to do? I have to keep that monster away from my Angel."
"Nick?" AJ whispered as he entered the room.
"Over here AJ." AJ walked over to his friend.
"How is she doing?" He asked looking over at Melissa's sleeping form.
"She's still sleeping."
"How are you doing?" AJ asked, already knowing the answer.
"Besides wanting to kill Adam, I'm just wonderful. Why can't he just leave her alone? Why does he have to torture her and her family like this?"
"Nick, don't try and figure out what's going on in that guy's head. He is a sick person who should be locked up for what he has done to Mel."
"What am I going to do J? I can't lose her; I have to keep her safe."
"You won't lose her; all of us are behind you and Mel a hundred percent. We will help any way we can. Darrell even said he would hire some more guys to help him."
"Speaking of Darrell where was he earlier, I thought he would have followed us."
"He was checking around the house. Nick nothing is going to happen to Mel, none of us will let it happen. Come downstairs, Alyssa and Howie made some food."
"I can't leave her AJ."
"Nick, you know Mel will be angry with you if you don't take care of yourself. Eat something then come back up later to see how she doing."
"Alright, let's go."
"I knew you couldn't turn down food." AJ stated as they left the room.
