"The popcorn is done!" Alyssa said as she exited the kitchen. "So what movie
are we going to watch?"
"Well we have Scream, The Notebook, The Sweetest Thing, or Troy!" Melissa
replied as she looked through the videos.
"I haven't seen Scream in so long, let's watch that." Jeni stated and placed the
video in the VCR. "There's a tape in here already." She pulled out the tape and
replaced it with the movie. "What do you think it is?"
"Nick said they were watching a football game, maybe they recorded it." Melissa
said sitting down on the plush couch.
"I think we should watch it and see what's on it."
"No Jeni, let's watch the movie. I don't care to watch a football game."
"Aren't you guys curious about what is on this tape?"
"No, why would we?" Julie questioned her.
"Think about it, why would the guys recorded a game that they watched and
knew what happened?"
"She does have a point; Nick did say that his team lost. So what would he record
it?" Melissa said. A gut feeling made Julie wonder if what the guys were hiding
was this video tape. If it was, nothing good can come from it.
"Guys, can we please watch the movie?" Julie pleaded, hoping they would drop
the subject of the video tape.
"Yeah, please; we're supposed to be having fun." Alyssa replied.
"Fine, we will watch the movie, but I'm not giving up on this." Jeni pushed play
and the movie started.
"Okay, I called Darrell and he is coming right over." Nick said placing the phone
back in its holder.
"Good, I'm sure once we talk to Darrell we can figure out how to keep Mel safe
from that asshole." AJ replied.
Darrell entered the beach house. "Did you need something boss?"
"Yes Darrell, while you were at the mall with the girls, did you noticed anyone
following you?"
"No boss, I kept a close eye on Mel. She was never out of my sight."
"You never saw Adam?"
"No boss, he wasn't there." Nick turned away from him; he could feel anger and worry consume him. "Boss, did something happen that I should know about?"
"Don't go in there!" Julie yelled at the TV. "Why is it in all scary movies that
people are so stupid?" The girls laughed at her. "No seriously! They always go
off alone, and they always go and investigate strange noises. If I was them, I
would be running the opposite direction of the noises!"
"She does have a point!" Melissa said getting up and heading to the kitchen.
"Does anyone need anything?"
"No, we are good." Jeni replied, rewinding the tape. "What is next up?"
"Well we still have three more movies to watch." Alyssa replied looking at them.
"How about we watch this movie?!" Jeni asked holding up the guys' tape.
"You aren't going to give up till we watch it, are you?" Melissa said as she
reappeared from the kitchen.
"Nope, so you better let me watch it!"
"Fine, play it, and then we can finish watching the other movies." Alyssa stated giving up.
Nick told Darrell everything about the video tape. "I'm so sorry boss, I never saw
anyone."
"I know Darrell, but we have to keep a close eye on Mel. If Adam can get this
close to her, there is no telling what he will do."
"I understand boss, is it possible to watch the tape? It might trigger some idea
who was following us."
"Good idea Darrell, the tape is…" Nick turned and looked at AJ. "The tape is
next door with the girls. They were going to watch movies! We have to get that
tape!" Nick stated heading to the door.
"Nick, we can just rush over there or Mel will know something is up. Why don't
we send Darrell over and he can retrieve it for us." Howie stated, being the voice
of reasoning.
"He's right Nick, let Darrell get it."
Jeni sat down on the couch beside Melissa and Alyssa. She pushed play and
nothing, but fuzziness appeared.
"Well this is interesting!" Julie joked. "I'm so glad we decided to watch this,
instead of a real movie!"
All of a sudden, there was a loud crash sound that came from the back of the
house.
"What the hell was that?" Jeni asked standing up.
"I don't know, it sounded like something broke." Alyssa replied. Melissa walked
to the back of the house and saw that the window was smashed. Pieces of glass
were laying everywhere, and then she spotted it. A large rock, it must have
broken the window, but who would do something like that. An alarming feeling
entered her body. She quickly ran back to the others.
"QUICK, GET AWAY FROM THE WINDOWS!" Melissa yelled to them.
"Mel, what's going on?" Alyssa asked, looking out the window.
"Alyssa get away from the window, we are in danger!" She grabbed her away
from the window and joined the others by the sofa.
"What the hell is going on?" Jeni asked, getting scared.
"Someone smashed our window with a large rock and I don't think he's done."
"He? Who Adam?" Alyssa asked her. However, before Melissa could answer,
another rock smashed a window. One after another, windows were being
smashed. With every crash, the girls screamed and held onto each other.
"What do we do?" Julie asked looking at her best friend. Melissa knew she had to do something and fast. "Stay together, don't move, and keep your heads down. I'm going to call for help." She crawled carefully to the cordless phone and quickly dialed Nick's cell, praying he had it on.
"It should be in the tape deck, or maybe on the table by the TV." Nick told Darrell.
They had thought up an idea for why he was heading next door, so he could get
the tape back.
"Hang on my cell is ringing." Nick flipped open his cell. "Hello."
"Nick, its Mel, get over here now!"
"Mel, what's wrong?"
Another window was damaged, sending glass everywhere and causing the girls
to scream again.
"Is that screaming I hear, Angel what's going on?" By now all the guys had
surrounded Nick.
"Someone is smashing our windows, please get over here now!"
"I'm on my way Angel…"
"MEL LOOK OUT!" Julie yelled, but it was too late.
"ANGEL!!!!!!" Nick yelled into the phone, but then the phone when dead.
