Everyone parted so they could see who made the comment. He walked up closer, so he could see the pair. When Melissa saw him, she thought she might pass out. He stopped in the middle of the room and looked at Melissa. He gave her a cocky smile.
�You bastard, what the hell are you doing here!?� Jonathon yelled as he lunged at him.
�Jonathon, you should really control your temper. This is a party, we are here to celebrate, not fight.�
�You aren�t welcome here. Get out or I�ll throw you out!�
He leaned in and whispered, �I tried to be nice, but you are weighing on my nerves.�
�I don�t care. I won�t let you hurt her again!� Jonathon grabbed his shirt and held on tightly.
�Jonathon, please don�t.� Julie asked touching his shoulders.
�Jules, don�t you look as beautiful as ever.� He inched closer to her, causing Jonathon push him away.
�You touch her and I will beat the life out of you!�
�Jonathon, you can�t stop me from doing what I want. I think I have proved that already!� He grinned at Jonathon. The anger consumed Jonathon�s body as he pushed him up against the wall. AJ and Kevin pulled Jonathon off the man, not knowing what was going on.
�You are a sick son of bitch. You should be locked up for what you did!�
�You can�t stop me from getting what I want Jonathon. I always get what I want.� Jonathon once again tried to lunge at him, but AJ and Kevin held him back. Jonathon kept struggling to get free till he heard her speak.
�Jonathon, don�t he isn�t worth it.� Melissa said as she stood in front of him. Jonathon looked into her eyes and relaxed his body.
�Mel, always the protector of the ones she loves, even if it means putting yourself last. You haven�t changed at all.�
Melissa slowly turned around and faced the man who had ruined her life. �You haven�t changed either Adam. Always showing up where you aren�t wanted. Leave.� She replied with every bit of strength in her body.
�Aww, Mel. After everything we have been through, I would have thought you would want me here.�
�You are the last person I want here and you know that.�
He looked around the room, noticing everyone watching their interaction. �Well, Jules and Jonathon are here to celebrate with you, but where are your parents? How is your dad doing, has he healed from his accident?� He stated with that same cocky grin.
Just like a reflex, Melissa threw her champagne in Adam�s face. �I don�t ever want to hear my family or friends� names come out of your mouth. Stay away from them!�
Adam wiped off his face and then looked at Melissa. �I was right.� He grabbed her arm. �You haven�t changed; you still don�t know who you are messing with.�
�I know exactly who you are, a sorry excuse of man who feels the need to control because he is so screwed up.� Adam tighten his grip on her arm. Once Nick saw what was going on, he rushed over.
He pushed Adam away from Melissa. �Get your hands off of her!� Nick stood in front of Melissa, using his body to separate them.
Adam started to laugh and walked up to Nick. �Nick, isn�t it? Well, we have a lot to talk about. I doubt Mel has told you about me.�
�No, she has, Mel tells me everything!� Adam once again started to laugh. Nick looked back at Melissa, but she couldn�t look at him.
�Are you sure about that Nick?� Adam turned his attention to Melissa. �Have you told him everything Mel?�
�I don�t know who you are, but you have to leave now!� Brian said as he interrupted the confrontation.
�Fine, I�ll leave, but this is far from over Mel. Just remember what happened last time someone you loved tried to protect you!� He stated and then left.
Julie and Jonathon quickly surrounded Melissa. �Mel, are you okay?� Julie asked holding her friend�s hand.
�I think so; I can�t believe he�s here!�
�Mel, we won�t let him hurt you, I promise you that!� Jonathon replied pulling her in for a hug.
�Mel, that was your ex Adam?� Nick asked once she broke away from Jonathon.
�Yeah that was him.� She said trying to catch her breath.
�I�m confused, what was he talking about? What haven�t you told me about him?�
�Nick, I�m so sorry, I didn�t want you to know, but Adam�.� Melissa fainted before she could finish. Nick quickly caught her and held her in his arms.
�Mel, Mel, are you okay? What�s wrong with her?� He asked Julie and Jonathon.
�Nick, she�s okay, she just passed out from seeing Adam.� Julie stated, not easing Nick�s worries.
�Why would seeing him affect her like this?�
�Nick, Mel has to tell you that. We should take her back to the beach house so she can rest.� Jonathon added.
