In an audio message, "al-Qaeda deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri" justifies attacks on the United Nations, which "he" calls an enemy of Islam, and says "al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden" is in good health. "Al-Zawahiri's" remarks were part of an internet question-and-answer session.

... Which tends to confirm the fraudulence and US-black-ops background of the "al-Zawahiri" tapes too.

Eight British Islamic-type men have gone on trial in connection with MI5's 2006 "airliner plot". They "planned" to down airliners belonging to United Airlines, American Airlines and Air Canada, killing up to 2,000 people. They "planned" to fill drinks bottles with hydrogen peroxide as "bombs". What, no chappatti flour?


4 April 08: No, the bombs were to be a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and "a drink called Tang", and "there is no doubt" that these would have produced significant explosions (BBC 6 O'Clock news correspondent, reporting on the second day of the trial).

The US administration has announced a policy or intention to increase troop levels in Afghanistan in 2009 (by which time a new president will be in power).

Iraqi prime minister Nouri al-Malaki called in US troops to the Basra "British zone"last week, and excluded UK commanders from planning. About 900 US troops and two generals have gone to the British Basra base.


13 April 08

An explosion at a mosque in Shiraz, Iran, killed 12 people. Initial reports suggested a homemade bomb ("for religious reasons"), but officials subsequently wrote it off variously as "old munitions from the war" (a police chief), or from a recent military display. The explosion was heard a mile away.


'WEAPONS LEFT FOR TALIBAN

'Food and weapons were recovered by the Taliban in southern Afghanistan after a coalition helicopter accidentally dropped them off at the wrong location.

'Amrullah Saleh, head of Afghanistan's intelligence service, told parliament the supplies were intended for police at a checkpoint in Zabul province.

'The disclosure came after a member of parliament accused the coalition of supplying the Taliban with weapons. [My emphasis.]'

At least 11 Afghan policemen and two Brit RAF personnel were killed in two separate attacks in southern Afghanistan. Yeah, by the Taliban.


'7/7 FRIENDS "MADE TOURISM CALLS"

'Two men accused of helping the 7 July [2005] bombers plan their attacks made calls to tourist bodies on a reconnaissance mission in London, a court has heard.

'Waheed Ali, Sadeer Saleem and Mohammed Shakil spent two days with two of the bombers, the jury heard.

'During the trip Mr Ali and Mr Shakil called the London Tourist Board and the Natural History Museum, Kingston Crown Court was told.

'All three men deny one charge each of conspiring to cause explosions.'

British commandos captured by the Iranians were in disputed waters, not Iraqi waters, the UK Ministry of Defence has admitted. The British were going according to a border line laid down by the Americans, but not informed to the Iranians.

'GAZA FUEL EMBARGO BLOCKS UN AID

'The United Nations says it is being forced to suspend its humanitarian work in Gaza because of the Israeli fuel blockade.

'A UN official says food aid to 650,000 refugees and the collection of sewage will have to stop on Thursday [today] if Israel does not allow in more vehicle fuel.

'The UN Security Council met to discuss the crisis, but Western representatives [including the Yank and Brit] walked out over comments from Libya.

'They objected to the Libyan delegate likening Gaza to a Nazi death camp.'

'N KOREA "LINKED TO SYRIA REACTOR"

North Korea was helping Syria build a nuclear reactor, US officials are to tell lawmakers in a closed session.

'Unnamed officials told a number of US newspapers that the US had video footage of the Syrian facility with North Koreans inside.

'Syria has repeated denials that it has any nuclear agreement with North Korea.

''It follows an unexplained air strike by Israel last September [07] on a target inside Syria.'

The CIA showed Congress video "evidence" of a Syrian "nuclear reactor" similar in design to the North Korean, and a still of the heads of the "Syrian" and North Korean nuclear programmes apparently standing together in a chummy pose. (British Channel 4 News at 7pm)

The White House then called on Syria to "come clean" about it "nuclear programme". (BBC Ceefax, p.108)
