Please Do not assist Backyard Breeders.
Be aware if the pups are pedigree but the breeders do not have the AKC American Kennel Club registration odds are that they do not have breeding rights.
They are most likely not involved in any sanctioned AKC shows and they are not knowledgeable about the breed. Much less improving the breed.
They are only putting two dogs to mate them. They may have the AKC registration on the dogs sire and dam but have not registered the litter. They probobly have a limited registration and
they are NOT to breed the dog.
One of the possible reasons for that can be a health issue or bone structure issue that the original kennel is aware of.
Certain lineage should be protected, and it is a RED Flag to you that this breeder is not honest.
I just got back from a breeder that looked so professional on the website.
When we visited his home to see his dogs we were surprized to find out that there were no litter registration!
Both his dogs were not AKC registered however the sire and dams grandparents had papers. Of course he had no connection to them or the kennel. He was just using their good name.
His answer to that was that he was going to get a UKC registration.
He seemed to feel that the papers didnt mean anything. He asked me how I could tell if the dogs were from the original paperwork anyway. I proceeded to inform him about DNA testing.
This simple test will identify the pup and the parents.
This is a backyard breeder who later can turn into a puppy mill. Dont be scammed!
Please be aware there are reasons breeders breed. Just becouse suzzie and sam live together should not be one of them!
Honest Breeders that improve the breed, have their dogs in events and evaluated by judges, do hip xrays, and spend a lot of time
and money on training and working their dogs.
Thank you
