Leah Wachter

Artist, Author, Wood Sculptor, Instructor

Leah lives in Sarasota Florida and is a professional artist, author, and teacher. She has won numerous awards including Best of show in Artistry in wood in Dayton Ohio and Best in Masters in Ft. Myers . Leah has worked with a variety of media throughout her career, and discovered the art of woodcarving in 1991. She published her first book a few years ago, and has contributed to both Wood Carving Illustrated and Chip Chats magazine.

Teaching Schedule:

28 March- 1 April 2007 Suwannee River Woodcarvers Roundup Leah will be teaching - “Carving Realistic Small Animals". - Students can choose from a rough-out of their choice, and work at their own pace. Animals will consist of a rabbit, mouse or squirrel.

All carving will be taught using a bench knife and hand tools but power tools are also welcome. Various wood burning techniques will also be taught and wood burners will be provided to the students on a first come basis. Painting will be taught on April 1st in two half day sessions. Students may bring in any pieces they wish to paint. All paint and brushes will be provided the cost is $8.00 per session.
