Space Traveling

71  x  98  cm

acrylic on canvas

2004

After the painter produced two paintings of Paris Hilton, came the photo of her at Yahoo News Photo when she was signing her new book, on a table with the big logo of Virgin Air. It was then followed by the news about Virgin boss Sir Richard Bransen made an agreement with Paul G. Allen and Burt Rutan to turn the SpaceShipOne project into a space traveling with Virgin logo attached on the space ship. It inspired the painter to produce this painting.

Dantowitz and Kozubal, from the Clay Center Observatory, which is part of the Dexter School for boys and the Southfield School for girls, a K-12 school in Brookline, Mass., used the telescope and proprietary tracking software which were powerful enough to see the launch all the way into space. SpaceShipOne broke through the Earth's atmosphere to the edge of space Monday for the second time in five days, capturing a $10 million prize aimed at opening the final frontier to tourists.

72  x  99  cm

acrylic on canvas

2004

When the painter was working the historical painting about Jenna Bush sticking her tongue inside the presidential limousine, came the news about Oprah Winfrey presenting 276 car prize to the audience of her famous talk show. Most of those receiving the car prize were housewives who have no car. It inspired the painter to make this painting that combines Oprah face and the photo of her 276 car prize and the Jenna Bush sticking tongue inside the limousine at the background.

acrylic on canvas

2004

This is just to record the shoe of Jenna Bush when she was sitting beside her father during the family's waiting for the final results of the election 2004. The spectacle on the bottom right is to depict the painter's feeling of being climbing to the heaven soon. The red maroon ribbon under the spectacle, which shaped like a "V", is to depict Jenna's red maroon dress during the presidential speech a few hours later. After the painter put the signature at the gray part on the painting, there was a photo of Jenna wearing gray jacket upon arrival at the White House.
