Some strange unusual relationship appeared between the following painting and the election of the new Pope in 2005.

The following Bugatti painting was displayed in the painting exhibition at Nikko hotel, Jakarta, from April 14 to April 20, 2005.

On Tuesday, April 19 2005, bells chimed at St. Peter's Basilica in the evening, announcing to the world that a new pope was elected in the first papal conclave of the new millennium.

This painting is about Bugatti Veyron 16 /4, whereas Mr. Ettore Bugatti, the founder of Bugatti, was an Italian. Somewhat like the location of Vatican inside Rome, Italy.

While since year 2000, the Bugatti company has been acquired by the famous German car manufacturer Volkswagen, just like the new Pope who is from Germany. While his title is Pope Benedict XVI, somewhat like the Bugatti 16 / 4.

This painting (right) was inspired by a picture of Greeting Cards in the Warner Press Trade Catalogue 1982 (B 8263). The picture was a photo of a real thing not a photo of someone else's painting. During the making of this painting, a picture of Bugatti (left) appeared in the newspaper on September 17, 2002. Whereas the position of an old Bugatti was like the position of the man's hand in this painting, while the position of the new Bugatti was like the position of the woman's hand.

The appearance of the above picture in the newspaper has inspired the painter to produce this painting. With some modification to make it more artistic then merely a news photo. It was also inspired by the fact that Bugatti has long been the car that painters like to put into paintings.

Ettore Bugatti (1881-1947) is perhaps most famous for his racing cars of the 20s and 30s which, as well as winning races, have been acknowledged as works of art. Born in Milan to a family of talented artists on Sept. 15,1881.

The history of Ettore Bugatti's beautiful automobiles begins in Molsheim, Germany in 1909. Soon thereafter, Molsheim was returned to the Alsace region of France at the conclusion of WWI. Having produced several car designs from 1899 for other companies, Ettore soon decided to strike out on his own, and created his own company in 1909 in Molsheim (a few kilometers west of Strasbourg), in an abandoned dyeing plant. Ettore Bugatti set up a small factory in France in 1909. From there for more than 30 years he invented, designed and produced, with awesome variety, not only cars - which ranged from his innovative and successful tiny racing car in 1911 to the luxury limousines and grand touring cars of the 20s and 30s - but also engines, machine tools, railway rolling stock and many other examples of twentieth century industrial design.

8-liter (7995 CC) engine, 16-cylinder, two V's W-16, 64 valves, 1,000-horsepower, four separate turbochargers, full-time all-wheel drive, seven gears computer-controlled shifting system with no clutch pedal or shift lever for the driver to operate……..Bugatti Veyron 16/4
