Allen Bulger
Artist's Statement:
I am a joint History of Art & Design and Illustration student. I like to
do work that fundamentally allows some drawing and painting, however more recently
I have been using more digital rendering to create images. I am interested in
art from the 1930s and my work subsequently features many influences from this
period. I have particular admiration for the work of Edward Hopper and Edward
Burra. I also enjoy the look of film noir and Batman comics. Within context
I also adopt a more contemporary approach to illustration, changing my style
accordingly. I enjoy the characters developed in Studio Ghibli anime and upon
graduating I hope to develop my own stories for use in Graphic Novels. I am
also interested in doing work for use in advertising.
