For Christmas, 2003, I recieved the most valuable rabbit in the world. My 12 year old grand-daughter, Amber Lynn, had gone to her art teacher at school and told her that she wanted to make a purple ceramic rabbit for her Mam-ma for Christmas. No one suggested this to her, she just came up with the idea all on her own. So she and her teacher worked together and cut out two slabs shaped like rabbits. Amber put them together leaving her finger prints where she had pinched the clay together. After the initial firing, Amber used a light purple glaze to paint it then they fired it again. When I opened her box on Christmas, I sat there, just shaking, almost on the verge of tears. I couldn't believe what she had done. It was so beautiful and i suddenly realized that I held, in my hands, the most valuable rabbit in the entire world. What grand-mother could ever ask for more? |
