My Greenhouse-Rabbitry Feb 1992 |

This is a picture of the front of my new rabbitry. The supports and rafters are all that are up. I covered the whole thing with 10 x 50 ft, 6 mil plastic (bought at Wal-Mart) to help protect my kids. The front is 8 feet tall sloping to 6 feet tall in the back. Please note that the plastic does NOT go all the way to the ground. This insures plenty of fresh air circulation all around the rabbitry. | ||||||||||||

This is looking down the main aisle of the rabbitry. Eventually, there will be 5 cages hung across the far end whose primary use will be for growing kits out. By this spring, all the cages will be hanging from the 2 x 6 rafters and heaven help the first person who says they are hanging by string. God invented baleing wire for a multitude of purposes. By making them all hanging cages, it will simplfiy cleaning the ground underneath them although I do eventually plan to install a self cleaning system below the cages. The tin roof will be put in place this spring. When everything is set up, there will be a 6 foot chain link fence completely surrounding everything. NOTE: 10/02 - due to knee surgery in 4-02, it proved impossible for me to get the roof on as originally planned. Since the original plastic has holes from normal wear and tear in it, I will be putting a new roll of plastic over the old one for additional protection this winter. |
