This website is dedicated to Samuel...my firstborn son. Samuel was stillborn after a pregnancy of 6 months due to a total Placenta Praevia which resulted in a placenta abruptia a condition where the placenta comes totally loose from the uterus causing the baby to die in the womb.Due to a genetic bloodclotting disorder called Factor V Leiden I had bloodclots in the placenta too.To prevent clotting of the umbilical cord, placenta or getting pre-eclampsia: You can give yourself daily shots of LMWH that will help you and your baby not clot. Without taking these shots you leave yourself open to a major clotting event and/or pre-eclapsia, and your unborn child can die from clots that form in the umbilical cord or placenta(why many women with FVL have miscarriages). Both of these things don't always happen. I'm just giving an example of what can happen. An OB-GYN that specializes in high risk pregnancies should work along side with your hematologist so that your pregnancy is a successful one.I didn't know I had FVL(FactorVLeiden) till 2002.I also found out I have Hashimoto's.A thyroid problem with thyroid antibodies.(autoimmune disorder)Both FactorVLeiden and Hashimoto's cause miscarriages....So it's a miracle we have 4 children.(I've had 17 miscariages too)If you want to help someone who's grieving due to giving birth to a stillborn baby please read this Pamflet. All parents go through 4 stages of grief. After losing Samuel I wrote a lot of poems.Below a poem I dedicated to him.
My Baby....Born Too Soon He lay beneath my heart in a soft secret place and I felt I knew him, Yet I've never seen his face Snuggled warm and quiet he moved to show he was there like the touch of butterfly wings created from the love we shared I'm sorry God kept you as an angel and that you couldn't be here with us Wings on your back a halo on top would be your destiny God didn't look deep enough into my heart for a precious child like you wasn't here for me to treasure I thought I found a love like no other that blossomed till the day of your birth I'm so sorry God kept his little angel and couldn't send you here to me on earth This poem is dedicated to little Samuel Who came and went like a breath of air but who will be loved forever. Samuel's light will shine forever in my heart.
"It's Hard to say good-bye before you've even had a chance to say hello."
One day after I have climbed the stairs to heaven I will hold you again.
Samuel is forever remembered in the Book of Life at the Shrine of the Holy Innocents in New York.
