Food Choices
Eat Slowly
10 months post-op with 4.25cc in the band
Water must be sipped throughout the day
Hot drinks (tea/coffee left for an hour either side of eating)
Breakfasts (1 of the following – work days I always have cereal because the rest take too long to eat)
Very small glass juice (drink juice before eating)
and
1/4c cereal with small amount of milk (I can’t eat weetbix at all – Nutrigrain for me)
1 slice toast with topping (allow toast to be very brown and then wait till its cold)
1 poached egg with 1/2 to 1 slice toast
1/4c baked beans/spaghetti
Lunches (1 of the following – can be interchangeable with dinners)
Pot of yoghurt with mashed banana then an Uncle Toby’s fruit break bar
Toasted sandwich (no butter, ham/tomato filling)
1/4 – 1/2 c pasta with sauce
2 egg omlette with small amount of filling (mushroom/tomato/onion)
Crackers and cheese with a small piece of fruit
1/2 c spaghetti/baked beans
Small tin of creamed rice (fat free)
Dinners (1 of the following)
1/2c pasta with approx. 1/4c veggies and meat (soft chicken) in a sauce
1/4 soft sausage (no skin) chopped up with 1/2c mashed potato and other veggie
1/2c lasagna with finely chopped salad
1/4c fish (fresh or tinned) in 1/4c mashed potato (onion/tomato etc) to make a "pie"
1/2c spaghetti bolognaise with salad
I can eat cooked broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, courgette, pumpkin, kumara, onion, apple...
Raw tomato, avocado, banana, melon, strawberries...
Snacks (sometimes needed)
Uncle Toby’s fruit break bar
Crackers and cheese
2 or 3 super wine biscuits
Milo
Takeaways (not always successfully tolerated or able to finish– no drinks)
KFC mashed potato (medium) a few fries
Wendy’s baked potato (cheese and broccoli my personal favourite)
Burger King – chicken tenders kids meal
McDonalds – nuggets kids meal
Pizza Hut – Lasagna (1/4 – 1/2 of it)
