My surgeon had instructed me that I should not undertake a strenuous weights programme in the first few weeks after surgery, so I focused on having regular aerobic workouts.
I aimed to have a minimum of 5-6 workouts of 40-60 minutes per week.
Initially my workouts were restricted to treadmill sessions as I gradually built up strength and confidence. Eventually I was able to start adding walks and aerobics classes into my schedule for variety.
