Lance laughed as Josh paced around him like a caged animal. "Babe, what has gotten into you?" he asked, watching him with a tender half-smile.
Josh stopped in his tracks, smiling back at his boyfriend. "I have a surprise for you," he said, clasping his hands together in front of him. "And I'm trying to remember if I forgot any minor details before I show you."
Lance blushed at Josh's confession. "A surprise? For me?"
Josh nodded, extending his hand. "Come with me and I'll show you."
Lance laced his fingers through Josh's, tingles running through his body at the simple contact. Josh led him out of the hotel room, nodding slightly at one of the bodyguards, who followed them to the elevator. They went down to the lobby before Josh said another word.
"Close your eyes, Lance," he whispered, his breath tickling Lance's earlobe, causing him to shiver.
"What are you up to, Josh?" Lance questioned, obediently closing his pale green orbs.
"You'll see." Josh led Lance down a hallway, entering the small ballroom the hotel had for special events. "All right, you can open them now."
Lance opened his eyes, blinking quickly to get used to the light again. "My surprise is a big empty room?" he asked.
Josh laughed, walking over to the stereo set up on a small table in the corner. "Remember what you said to me a couple nights ago, about wishing we could dance together in a club?"
"Yeah, but what does that have to with..." Lance's voice trailed off as Josh put a CD in the stereo, turning the music up before shutting the ballroom doors.
"It's not exactly a club, but it was the best I could do," Josh said, walking back to Lance.
Lance shook his head. "You are amazing," he said softly. "You rented out this room?"
"For all night," Josh replied with a smile. "Now come on, let's get a little crazy. No one's here but us, let's let loose and have some fun."
Josh and Lance began dancing to the pulsating music coming through the small speakers of the stereo. Sometimes they would grind together, other times they'd be lost in worlds completely their own. After a few songs a slow ballad came on, and Lance stepped into Josh's open arms, his hands going around Josh's neck, his fingers running through the chestnut hair of his lover.
"I still can't believe you did this for me," Lance whispered, his head resting on Josh' shoulder.
"I wanted to do something special for you," Josh replied. "You've put so much on the line for us to be together, and I know the constant secrecy gets to you sometimes. It gets to me too, you know. I hate it that it hurts you when I say I'm seeing someone but I can't say who it is."
"I knew it was a price we had to pay," Lance answered, smiling as Josh's hands held him a little tighter.
"But it's still annoying," Josh added. He kissed the top of Lance's head. "So tonight is our night. No media, no fans...not even the other guys. Just you, me and this old stereo."
Lance pulled back slightly, leaning up to kiss Josh gently. "Just the way I like it," he said quietly.
They kissed again before returning to their original positions, swaying to the music. "Hey, Josh?" Lance asked softly.
"What is it, Lance?"
"Do you ever think things are going so quickly in our lives that we're going to lose sight of what's really important?" Josh loosened his grip on Lance so he could look into his boyfriend's eyes.
"What do you mean?" Josh questioned, his ocean blue eyes full of concern and curiosity.
"I think about that sometimes. Our careers are going so well and we're constantly trying to take it higher, to another level, and I worry that sooner or later we're going to become so consumed with trying to be better than the competition, or trying to bring in more money that we forget what got us here in the first place. The love of our family and friends, and all the people we've met along the way." Lance looked down, his gaze focusing on his shoes, and Josh placed his fingertips under Lance's chin, forcing him to look up again.
"As long as you're concerned about that happening, you won't let it happen," Josh replied quietly, but firmly. "You want to know what takes top priority in my life right now?"
"What?" Lance asked, looking directly into Josh's hypnotic eyes.
"You, and us," Josh answered. "I love you, you make every day worth living. I am so incredibly honored to have you in my life, and as long as I have you, I know that I'll stay grounded, and focused, because you are a constant reminder that you can have all the money and fame in the world, but it's worth nothing if you don't have love."
Tears filled Lance's eyes, and he chuckled lightly as one fell down his cheek, Josh sweeping it away with his thumb. "Then I guess neither of us have anything to worry about. Because I'm not going anywhere. I love you too."
They kissed again, sweetly, swaying gently to the music still filling the room. "We need to have more nights like this," Josh said softly as they broke apart a minute later, both breathless.
"You can't rent out the ballroom in every hotel we stay at," Lance replied teasingly.
"No but I can bring a stereo into the hotel room," Josh grinned.
"Think we'll actually just dance and talk if we're in our own room?" Lance questioned.
This time Josh's smile was evil. "I guess we'll just have to find
out, won't we?"

"Let's Dance"
Song performed by: Sara Evans
Baby, hold my hand
Show me you're my man
Take me to that land
Where we can get crazy
Cause this old world gets tough
When I've had enough
I need to know your love
Will be here to save me, save me
Let's dance while the lights are shining bright
Let's dance while the music's feeling right
Romance till the night is through
You'll be holding me
Yeah, and I'll be holding you
Let's dance
Wanna feel your touch
You know I love you so much
Maybe with a little love
Our world will turn slower
Cause we've been moving so fast
Seems life is flying past
Can we make this moment
I wanna remember, remember
Let's dance while the lights are shining bright
Let's dance while the music's feeling right
Romance till the night is through
You'll be holding me
Yeah, and I'll be holding you
Let's dance
Oh, let's dance
Oh, baby just say yes
I've got this brand new dress
This night could change our lives forever
Yeah, let's dance
Oh, romance till the night is through
You'll be holding me now
Yeah, and I'll be holding you
Let's dance
Yeah, let's dance
Baby, baby, baby let's dance
Oh, hold me, love me, show me baby
Baby, let's dance
