Jordyn fumbled with her keys trying to get the right one in the door. She noticed when she pulled up that Lance's Four Runner wasn't in the driveway and she thought that to be odd. He had gotten back from LA that afternoon, she was sure of it. She had been putting in a lot of hours at the office, but she knew what day it was mentally she sighed with frustration as she pushed the door open. The only light that shone was from the dimly lit chandelier hanging from the foyer ceiling.
"Lance?" She yelled softly then waited. "Lance?" She shrugged with disappointment when she didn't get an answer and then tossed the unopened mail on the hall table and decided to go up and take a shower before heading to bed. When she got to the top of the stairs she noticed a faint, flickering light coming from the bedroom. Approaching it she quietly opened the door. When she stepped inside she noticed the room had been filled with burning candles and dozen upon dozen of roses, but still no Lance.
"Honey?" she called out.
Suddenly Lance appeared from the bathroom dressed only in flannel pajama bottoms. The sight of his half-naked body did things to her insides that she never knew existed until she had met him three years earlier.
"Hey baby, how was your day?"
Quickly she ran over and threw her arms around his neck, kissing him passionately.
"I missed you too." He told her when the kiss ended.
"I didn't think you made it home. I didn't see your truck in the driveway."
"I dropped it off at the shop when we got back and Justin brought me home."
She smiled at him.
"What?" He asked her curiously.
"Nothing I was just wondering what all this was for?" She said again observing the candles and flowers.
"For you. I wanted tonight to be special. I haven't seen you in almost three months you know."
"I know and I only get to have you for four days and then I have to share you again."
"Come on baby. Let's not worry about that right now. Let's just enjoy the rest of the night. I have something for you."
She smiled at him. He was such a romantic and he always brought her back some small token of affection when he had been away.
"Oh yeah, what is it?"
"Not now, you have to wait."
She stuck out her lip pretending to pout.
"Stick that lip back in because it isn't going to work this time. This surprise is all about timing."
He had piqued her curiosity with that comment and she was dying to know what he was up to. Deciding to take her mind off of it she grabbed Lance by the hands and led him to the bed.
"Um, champagne." She said filling the two glasses that he had sitting on the end table and handing one to him.
"To us?" Jordyn asked raising her glass.
"To forever." He said taking her into his arms. Removing the glass from her hand he lowered her onto the massive, silk covered bed. He laid on top of her and began slowly undoing her shirt. Placing a kiss after each button was undone. When he had finished he discarded it on the floor and slid up the bed to lay next to her. He pulled her as close to him as he could get her and began running his finger up and down her arm.
"Jordyn, do you love me? I mean do you love me as much now as you did when you first fell in love with me?"
She brought his hand to her mouth and kissed each of his fingers.
"No, I love you more than I did then and more than I ever thought was possible."
He just smiled at her then reached over to the other end table.
She looked down at the small box Lance had in his hand and felt the butterflies’ form in her stomach when she realized where this was going.
"Do you love me enough to marry me?" He asked pulling the box open and handing it to her.
"Oh Lance, it's so beautiful." She said as the tear welled in her eyes and when she looked up at him they slid down her face.
He looked deep into her eyes. "Not half as beautiful as you are."
"I'm so shocked I don't know what to say."
"Say you love me and want to be with me forever."
"I do love you and I will be with you forever." She told him leaning over and placing her lips on his.
"Well?"
"I want to marry you more than anything, but do you think it's a good idea right now? I mean with the guys and the fans?"
"The guys are fine with it. Justin went with me when I picked out the ring and as far as the fans go. I love them, but I love you more and they'll just have to deal with it."
She looked down at the ring that was now on her finger and almost got lost in the sparkle of the enormous diamond.
Lance laid back down and pulled her into his arms.
"Marry me Jordyn." He whispered softly in her ear.
"Yes Lance. I'll marry you." She whispered back feeling his warm breath as he kissed her neck.
They stayed up all night making love and fell asleep in each others arms as the light peered through the blinds.
Jordyn awoke to the ringing of the phone. She glanced at the clock as she reached for it. 8:30am.
"Hello?" She asked goggily.
"So are congratulations in order?" Justin asked cheerfully on the other end.
Jordyn couldn’t help smiling to herself.
"As a matter of fact they are and I can see you are eager to hand them out." She laughed.
"It has been driving me crazy. Lance had been in a state of panic for weeks thinking you would say no."
"And why would he think that?"
"For the exact reasons you almost did."
Jordyn rolled her eyes. "You know me too well JT"
"I know you’re worried about what being engaged to Lance is going to entail, but the guys and I want you to know that we are here to back you up every step of the way."
"Thanks Justin that means a lot to me."
"Well, I gotta run. I have a breakfast date."
"Um, I’m sure Kelli is dying for some attention."
"Yeah, she’s been feeling pretty neglected lately. Two and a half months on the road is tough on you all."
"You got that right. I’ll talk to ya later JT."
"Later." He said before hanging up.
Jordyn rolled over and gazed at Lance as he slept an overwhelming smile spread on her face. Quietly she slipped out of bed, grabbed her robe and headed downstairs to make breakfast.
Half an hour later she was busy flipping French toast when she felt two arms slid around her waist.
"Morning beautiful."
"Morning yourself." She smiled turning around to hug him. "Hungry?"
"For you." He said kissing her passionately.
"I would think after last night you would need a break."
"Well I guess I could put it off long enough to eat and shower."
"You are awful." She laughed.
"I know, but I think that’s one of the reasons you love me."
"You’re right it is." She said kissing him again.
"Who called so early this morning?" He asked seating himself at the breakfast bar and rubbing his eyes.
"Guess."
"Justin no doubt looking for gossip."
"You got it."
"He ceases to amaze me."
"I don’t know I think it’s kind of nice to know your friends like me so much."
"Yeah, they are practically drooling over this and I think I may have put ideas in Chris and JC’s heads too."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, the sentimental fools they are."
They sat there for awhile in silence eating their breakfast.
"So how do you feel about a short plane trip?" He asked after he had scarfed down his French toast.
"Where are you taking me?"
"Mississippi."
"Gotta share you with the family?" She teased.
"Well that, but I want to let them know that my beautiful girlfriend is now my fiancée."
"Oh that’s right I agreed to marry you didn’t I?"
"Yes you did." He said pulling her into his arms. "Having doubts?"
"No are you?"
"I’ve never been so sure about anything in my life." He said putting his lips to hers.
"How about that shower?"
"Um, I was hopping you’d join me."
"I’ll be right up." She said swatting him on the butt as he walked away.
"Is that foreplay?"
She couldn’t help but laugh at his playful antics.
Later that afternoon they were on a plane headed for Mississippi to see Lance’s family. Jordyn was almost giddy with anticipation as the plane landed at the airport. She loved his family. They had always been so good to her.
"There they are." Diane Bass said to her husband.
"Hey mom. Hey dad."
"Oh honey how have you been?" Diane said scooping him into her arms.
"I’ve been good."
"Jordyn, it’s so good to see you. Five months is just too long."
"I know I’m sorry I couldn’t make it for the 4th of July, but work called."
"Dad you look good."
"Yeah well your mother has me on some crazy diet."
"You may think it’s crazy, but you can’t have all the fat dear it just isn’t healthy. Isn’t that right Jordyn?"
"I’m sorry to ruin it for you but she’s right Jim. No fatty foods and lots of exercise."
They continued the bickering on the way to the car.
"That’s going to be us in 20 years." Lance whispered to her.
She smiled knowing what Lance really meant. Jordyn knew how much Lance’s parents adored each other. Even after all the years they had been together they still had what most marriages lack and Lance comparing their relationship with his parents was a compliment.
"We were so happy when Lance called and said you two were coming." Diane said.
"Yeah I think mom was more excited about seeing you then me." Lance laughed.
"Oh Lance, it’s not that. It’s just that we haven’t seen her in so long."
"Well we have another surprise for you. Bruce and Cheryl are flying in tonight." Lance told them.
"Wonderful. We haven’t seen them for a long time either. Maybe your dad and I can go to the country club tomorrow and play golf. Thankfully that’s still something I’m allowed to do." Jim said laughing.
"What time does their plane get in?" Diane asked.
"They should be to the house around seven." Jordyn informed them.
"That’s perfect. Dinner should be ready be then."
"Oh we were going to take everyone out, but dinner at the house is fine."
"Dinner out? Something’s up."
"What makes you say that dad?"
"Just parental intuition."
When they got to the house Lance brought their bags up to room and Jordyn rummaged through her bags for a change of clothes.
"Can I help?" Lance asked raising his eyes brows.
Jordyn walked over and kissed him deeply. "God, I love you."
"Um, you don’t know what that does to me when you say that."
"I love you." She whispered into his ear.
He pulled her back slightly and put his hand to her face. "I love you too baby. So much." Then kissed her again.
They two were unaware they had a small audience outside the door.
"Look at them Jim. I’m so happy they have found each other. I like Jordyn so much."
"I do too honey and I’m convinced by the look on our sons face he more than likes her."
Jordyn’s parents arrived an hour earlier than planned.
"We figured we’d be here later, but when the lady at the airport told us our flight would be delayed another hour Bruce insisted she find us a flight that would get us here on time." She looked at Jordyn. "You know how your dad hates being late."
"This is so wonderful. I was beginning to think that the next time we were all able to get together would be when these two got married." Diane laughed.
Jordyn and Lance smiled at each other. Then Lance turned his attention back to Jordyn’s parents, but Jordyn couldn’t take her eyes off of him. She stood there letting her eyes settle oh his face. Thinking about how gorgeous he was. She loved his eyes. The look inside of them gave her every ounce of strength she had. They were honest and sincere. Suddenly she felt the butterflies in her stomach. Lance and I are always going to be together. From this day on I know that he’ll forever be mine." She thoughts as she joined the others in the living room for pre dinner cocktails.
Lance rushed over to her.
"Baby you ok?" He asked putting his arms around her.
"Yeah it’s just the anticipation is killing me." She said quietly to him.
He smiled broadly at her and pulled her closer. "I know I can’t wait to tell them either. Let’s do it now."
Quickly she nodded to him. Lance grabbed her hand and they moved back into the room.
"Okay now that we have you all here. I have something I want to say."
The four fell silent and waited for Lance to go on.
"Last night I asked Jordyn to marry me and she said yes."
Almost instantly Diane and Cheryl’s eyes filled with tears and the both jumped from the couch and took turns hugging them.
"Oh honey that’s wonderful." Diane told him.
"It will be such a joy to have you as part of our family for real Lance."
"And Jim and I feel the same way about you Jordyn."
"See I told you something was up." Jim said giving his son a hug and kissing Jordyn on the cheek. "Congratulations kids."
"Well I guess we’ll have to cancel that trip to Rome so I can pay for a wedding."
"Bruce!" Cheryl said.
"I’m kidding. I’m kidding."
"Don’t worry about a thing Bruce. We’re gonna pay for the whole thing."
"Over my dead body you will. They only thing you need to worry about it making my daughter happy and you’re already doing a wonderful job at that. Welcome to the family Lance." Bruce said shaking his hand.
"Well let me pay for something."
"Lance I’m a corporate attorney as you know and I argue for a living." He laughed.
"Ok you win."
"So have you discussed a date?" Cheryl asked.
"No we haven’t discussed any of that yet. We were too excited about telling you." Jordyn said.
"Well let’s go eat and we can talk about it." Lance told them.
After dinner Jordyn went up to lay down and Lance come up soon after.
Quietly he snuck in and slid up next to her on the bed.
"Um, you smell so good."
"I’m sorry I woke you."
"It’s okay I’m glad you did." She rolled over and buried herself in his chest.
"I was thinking about a wedding date." He told her.
"Do tell."
"December 16th."
She slowly rose to meet his eyes. "But Lance that’ s when…"
"I know it is."
"But why that day then?"
"Jordyn when you left me that day it was the most miserable of my life and the way I see it is if we get married on that day then I won’t have a reason to hate it anymore. It’s the only bad memory I have of us."
"James, I don’t know what I was thinking that day except that I was so scared."
"Shh, don’t. We’re together now and you’re not ever getting rid of me."
"Ok then there’s only one more minor problem with that date."
"What’s that?"
"I don’t know if I can wait that long."
He smiled but didn’t answer. He just starred at her and ran his fingers through her hair.
"What?" She asked smiling at him.
"Make love to me."
"Need I remind you our parents are down stairs."
"I don’t care. I need you, so I guess you’ll just have to be quiet."
"Um, now there’s a challenge." She said as she began kissing him passionately.
The next morning they all sat outside around the pool eating breakfast and chatting about wedding plans.
"First off we have to try to keep this as hush hush as possible." Jordyn said. "All reservations that need be in our names just use our first names or just mine if we can get away with that."
"Honey you make it sound like some top secret CIA meeting."
"Dad, trust me the less fans we have crowded outside the church the better."
"Yeah Bruce they can get pretty bad and Jordyn and I have had some bad experiences." Lance informed him.
"You have to remember dear that Lance is a teen sex symbol."
"Well Jim what do you say we hit the course?"
"Sounds great."
The guys kissed their wives and were on their way.
"Mom, please don’t ever say that again." Jordyn laughed.
"Yeah I guess that’s not a good way to talk about my future son in law. I’m sorry Lance."
"It’s okay. It’s a hard job but someone has to do it." He said then looked over at Jordyn who rolled her eyes at him.
Lance dropped on his knees in front of her chair.
"I’m sorry baby."
"It’s okay you’re forgiven." She said sliding off the chair and moving in front of him. "I can’t say as I blame them."
Diane and Cheryl watched them as they continued their talk on their knees.
"Sorry, we get caught up in the moment sometimes." Jordyn said.
"Don’t mind us. It’s wonderful to see you two so in love." Diane told them.
"Yes, it’s definitely a change from your brother and Tami."
"How are Jeff and the wicked witch of the west anyway?" Diane asked.
"Mom!"
"Lance, this is one of the reasons I adore your mother so much." Cheryl said hooking her arm through Diane’s as the walked off to the flower gardens.
"My mom will corrupt your mother yet." Jordyn laughed.
Three months later wedding plans were in full swing. They had decided to get married in Mississippi instead of Orlando. So Lance spent most of his time between shows on the phone.
"Baby I’m sorry I can’t be there to help you more."
"It’s ok I understand honey."
"The guys and I have decided to take an extended leave from Nsync after this tour though. We’ve all got enough other projects to keep us busy for awhile."
"Are you really sure you want to do that?"
"Don’t worry about that now. Let’s talk about our wedding."
"Well your mom and sister and my mom are going with me to pick out a dress today."
"Um now this is the stuff I want to talk about. Can I see it?"
"Lance, that’s bad luck you know."
"Not the way I see it. The way I see it is that I was lucky enough to find you so I’m incapable of bad luck."
"You always know exactly what to say. Is it because you know what I want to hear?"
"Not at all. It’s because I feel it and I mean it."
"Good."
Lance paused thinking he could hear her crying.
"Baby what’s wrong?"
"I miss you James. I lay in our bed and I’m so lonely."
"I miss you too honey. Two more months and this tour will be over. I keep going everyday knowing that when I come home you’re gonna be my wife."
"I can’t wait either."
"Baby I gotta go for sound check."
"Promise to call me later?"
"Of course. Think of me till then?"
"I always do, send the guys my love."
"Do the same for me. I love you Jordyn."
"I love you too baby."
"Has he figured it out yet?" Diane asked her when she hung up.
"No, so I’m in the clear."
"Well we better get this dress bought so you can make your flight."
"OK let’s go."
Three hours later Jordyn had tried on a ton of dresses and finally found the one she was looking for. She was even more sure it was the one when she put it one.
"What do you guys think?" She said stepping out to show them.
"Oh Jordyn it’s perfect."
"You look beautiful." Stacy told her.
"You do and Lance will love it." Diane added.
"Is this the one you want Miss. Connor?" The sales lady asked.
"Yeah, this is the one. Thank you."
Jordyn started crying again as she paid for the dress.
"There’s those tears again." Her mother said smiling and the three joined in her happy cry.
"I just so happy mom. I can’t believe after three years we’re finally going to do it."
They all gathered in a group hug.
"How about some coffee before we take you to the airport?" Diane suggested.
"That sounds great."
Diane sat contently smiling as they drank their coffee. "You know this really is all falling together perfect. The perfect dress, the perfect reception."
"The perfect man." Jordyn added smiling as she drifted off for a minute to think about Lance.
"This is going to be a beautiful wedding and thank God so far there have been no leaks."
"I’m thankful for that too mom."
"Well I hate to go, but Ford and I are having dinner tonight and I have a ton of work to get done before we go."
"Thank you for coming Stacy." Jordyn said as the girls embraced.
"I wouldn’t have missed it for anything."
"Tell Ford I say hello."
"Will do and give my brother a big hug for me and tell him I said congratulations."
"Okay I’ll do that."
"We better go too. Your plane leaves in forty five minutes." Cheryl said looking at her watch.
It was only a two-hour plane ride to Indianapolis, but Jordyn squirmed the whole way. Usually when she planned these surprises for Lance she let one of the guys know, but this time she hadn’t called any of them. Mitch, one of the body guards, was the only one she let in on her secret When she got off the plane she quickly made her way through airport a caught a cab.
"Where to miss?"
"The RCA Dome please."
She knew she wouldn’t make it before the show started, but that was okay. Sitting through a two hour show would just give the anticipation time to grow. She was so excited to see him. If she could have she would have come a month ago, but there was so much wedding stuff to do that she couldn’t get away and she knew the guys were very busy too.
She could hear the roaring noise the minute she stepped out of the cab and ran to the back door. She stopped for a quick minute to grab the VIP pass Mitch has sent her. Something inside of her leapt when she stepped inside the arena. She felt it every time she watched the guys perform.
"Hey there you are." Mitch said hugging her.
"I made it, but not in time I see."
"It’s alright. You wanna go watch the show or wait here?"
"Do you have an itinerary?"
"Yeah, here ya go."
"I want to see the show, but I don’t want to be seen." She said looking over the paper. "Okay it’s safe to go out now for a little bit."
"We’ll go with you." He said waving for Rob to follow him.
"So I hear congratulations are in order." Rob yelled over the crowd.
"Yeah we weren’t sure we’d even see you before the big day." Mitch added.
"I’m so glad you’ll both be there."
"We have to be. We’ve been put in charge of security." Rob laughed.
She watched the guys from backstage and smiled. They looked so good. She didn’t get a chance to see the guys on the last break.
Quickly they made a mad dash for the security room as the set ended.
"Okay we’ll be back in a few."
"Guys I have a better idea. Where’s the after party going to be?"
"The ballroom at the Raddison."
"Okay I’ll just see you guys there later and shh."
"Your secrets safe with us."
She looked down at her watch as she entered the lobby at the hotel. She had 35 minutes to get checked in and changed.
"Can you tell me what floor Lance Bass is on please?"
"I’m sorry I can’t give that information out miss."
"It’s okay Sharon she’s with us. "
"Johnny! I figured you be at the venue."
"I was for awhile, but I had to come get changed."
"You look great."
"Sharon will you give Miss. Connor a key pass to Mr. Bass’s room and put anything she gets on my charge."
"Yes, Mr. Wright and I’m so very sorry for the confusion Miss. Here’s your key."
"It’s okay. Thank you."
"Okay I’m going to go up and change. I’ll see you a little later. Oh and Johnny none of the guys know I’m here so please don’t tell."
"You got it."
She hadn’t thought about it in the lobby, but now that she was in the room she realized that when Lance came up to change he would see her things.
"Oh well" she said to herself as she slipped into the hunter green dress she bought that afternoon.
By the time she got her hair done and makeup on she knew Lance would be coming up the elevator soon. So she quietly shut the door and took the stairs then quickly slipped through the lobby to the ballroom.
"Johnny are they here yet?"
"Yep, you lucked out. They just went up a few minutes ago."
Twenty minutes later the guys appeared in the doorway and she watched as Lance’s eyes searched the room. She slowly got up from the bar and walked over to him at about the same time he noticed her.
"What are you doing here?" He asked.
"Not happy to see me?"
"Of course I am. I just had no idea."
"That was the point honey."
His arms seemed to swallow her as she leaned into him and breathed in.
"I’ve missed the smell of your cologne."
"I hope that’s not all you’ve missed."
"Definitely not, but we’ll talk about that later."
"Oh, how much later?"
"Well I think we should hang out for awhile. You do have fans who are here to see you."
"Nah let’s just leave now. They just come to see Justin anyway."
"Whatever." She said as she laughed and rolled her eyes at him.
They spent a little over an hour at the party and then excused themselves.
It seemed to take them forever to get to their room, but once they got inside Lance pulled her to him.
"God, I’ve missed you baby."
"I’ve missed you too. So much."
"Two months is too long." He said trailing kisses down her neck.
When he finished he picked her up and laid her on the bed.
"Whatever will you do with me Mr. Bass?"
He smiled and then bent down to whisper in her ear. "I’m going to kiss you and hold you and then I’m going to make love to you until I can’t get it up anymore."
He had an amazing effect to get her aroused very quickly. She moaned softly as he slip down on the bed next to her and put his lips on hers.
"You’re awful."
"I know, but you still love me."
"Um, that I do."
"Do you really have to leave already?" Lance asked slipping his arms around her waist as she packed her suitcase.
Jordyn turned around and put her arms around his neck and kissed him. "I’m sorry honey. If I could I would stay the rest of the tour, but we’re so under staffed at the hospital and I still have a ton of wedding plans to make."
"I know. I can’t help being selfish when it comes to you. I was so excited when I figured out you were here and now I have to go back to missing you."
"Oh baby I know. I’m so miserable without you at home."
"I’ll be home in a couple weeks for a few days and I promise I’ll be more helpful with wedding plans. Maybe we should have waited until the tour was over."
"No way. I wish the wedding was tomorrow. I can’t wait anymore."
Lance smiled, knowing that that was exactly who he felt too.
"Well then lets do it. We could hop a plane to Vegas and be married before the show tonight." He said pulling her closer to him.
"That’s a nice thought, but our parents would kill us."
"I know."
"Come in." Jordyn said to the knock at the door as the four guys filed in.
"We didn’t get to see much of you last night at the after party." JC said.
"Yeah and we didn’t get to dance." Joey told her.
"I know guys. I’m sorry."
"Well you know who the first four guys will be lined up at your reception to dance with you." Justin said laughing.
"I bet ten to one they will start fighting over who’s first in that line the minute we get on the bus." Lance whispered to her.
Jordyn looked around the room at the guys that surrounded her and smiled.
"What’s that look for?" Chris inquired.
"It’s just nice to know that even if I didn’t have my parents and my brother. I’d still have you all as my family."
"Regardless of them Jordyn you’ll always be part of our family." JC told her.
"Thanks. Well I have to get to the airport." She said looking down at her watch.
"Do you need a ride?" Lance asked.
"Rob’s going to bring me and I’d guess that you all have a bus to catch."
"Whoa I guess you’re right. Johnny’s probably in the lobby pacing as we speak." Justin said looking at the clock on the nightstand.
Jordyn hugged them all and kissed them on the cheek as one by one they left the room.
"Promise to call me later?" She asked between kissed.
"Of course. Think of me till then?"
"I always do James."
He smiled at her as she grabbed her bag and followed them to the lobby.
The next couple months seemed to drag by. Jordyn had thought work and wedding planning would keep her busy and though it did she still missed Lance every minute.
The day they were to arrive home Jordyn couldn’t sit still. She thought of the time her and Lance would get to enjoy because of the break the guys had decided to take. The house was full of excitement. Jordyn had invited the guy’s parents to her house for a welcome home party.
An hour before they were due at the house the phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Jordyn it’s Jace."
"Hey JC you at the airport?"
"No, Jordyn you need to come down to the hospital. It’s Lance."
A sudden rush of horror ran through her body. "Josh what’s wrong?"
"Lance collapsed after we got off the plane."
Jordyn didn’t wait for him to finish talking she threw the phone down and grabbed her keys.
"Diane!" She yelled through the house. "Diane!"
"Jordyn what’s wrong dear?" Diane asked rushing to her.
"Lance is in the hospital. He collapsed at the airport."
"Oh dear God. Let’s go."
Jordyn quickly explained to her mother as they rushed out of the house.
When they got there Jordyn and Diane hurried to the nurse’s station and she showed them to his room.
Justin was sitting next to his bed in a chair. The minute she looked at him the tears came rushing. She could tell by the look on his face that it wasn’t good.
"He’s not responding." Justin said grimly.
"What…." Diane couldn’t get the words out.
"They think it’s his heart. The doctor said it’s due to stress and exhaustion."
Jordyn and Diane walked to his bed and Jordyn took his hand in hers.
"James, I’m here. Please open your eyes baby." She said kissing his hand.
Jordyn sat next to him for hours talking to him and running her fingers through his blond hair.
She didn’t realize how long she had been there until JC came in.
"Jordyn why don’t you go get some rest or have something to eat. I’ll stay."
"I can’t lose him Josh." She said running to him.
JC wrapped his arms around her tightly. "I know Lance and he won’t leave you Jordyn. I’m sure of that and they are flying a heart specialist in from Cleveland and he’s the best the money can buy. He’s going to pull through this."
She wished she could believe the comforting words he was saying, but when she turned and look at Lance she wasn’t totally convinced.
She took JC’s advice and joined the others in the cafeteria for some coffee.
"Hi Jordyn." Joey said hugging her.
"Hi Joe."
Chris grabbed her hands and held her out. "You’re going to make a beautiful bride Jordyn."
She smiled weakly at Chris’s comment.
Justin hugged her tight. "He’s going to be ok Jordie C. nothing in this world means more to him than you."
Jordyn laughed lightly.
"Did I just hear a giggle?" Justin asked.
"I’ve just never heard you call me that in such a serious tone."
"Come sit and have something to eat Jordyn." Diane said patting the chair next to her.
"Thanks mom, but I’m just going to grab some coffee and go back up. You should all go up and get JC and go to the house and get some sleep. You look exhausted."
"Sorry "mom" but we’re not leaving either." Joey told her.
Chris leaned over and whispered to Diane "She’s like this on tour too."
"I’m going back up."
Jordyn didn’t know what time she had fallen asleep next to Lance in the bed, but when she woke up she turned her head and tried to force a smile. It was unlike any other time she has ever woken up next to him. Blocking that from her mind she tried to imagine them at home in their own bed. Slowly she rolled over and kissed him on the lips and smoothed back his hair.
"Lance." She whispered. "Come on baby open those gorgeous green eyes." She picked up his hand in hers. "Please honey..please look at me."
For a moment she thought she had felt him squeeze her hand. She quickly looked from her hand to his face.
"Lance…it’s me. We’re all here. Please baby come back to me. I love you so much."
Again she felt it and her heart leapt.
"Jordyn?" He said faintly.
"Yes baby it’s me." She smiled widely through her tears.
"I love you too." He said slowly opening his eyes. "Jordyn..Where am I…I remember being at the airport..So excited."
"Shhh baby don’t talk. Just rest I’m going to go get the doctor."
"What’s all the commotion about?" JC asked when he saw the doctor rush into the room.
"He’s awake. He’s really going to be ok." She said smiling through her tears.
Everyone began hugging her and each other.
"I told you he’d be ok."
Lance was released from the hospital the next day and put on strict bed rest for the next week.
"You’re still here." He said the next morning when he woke up and noticed Jordyn next to him in bed.
"Of course. I don’t want to leave you."
"I’m glad." He said pulling her to him and trailing kisses down her neck.
"Take it easy Mr. Bass. Remember what the doctor said. No strenuous activity for awhile."
"Well then I guess I’ll just let you take advantage of me."
"Nice try. Now would you like some breakfast? I’ll make some French toast."
"Fuck the French toast." He said pulling her back down on the bed. "I want you."
"Such language James. What would your mother think?"
"She’d think you were being unreasonable."
"Do you really think I’m going to buy that?" She said smiling broadly at him.
"I doubt it, but hey it’s worth a shot."
"If I do this do you promise you will take it easy the rest of the day?"
"You make it sound like making love to me is a chore."
"Absolutely not, but Lance I thought I was going to lose you three days ago."
"I’ve already told you you’re not getting rid of me."
"Promise?"
"Of course. Now come here."
An hour later they were still laying in bed.
"It’s two in the afternoon." Lance said looking at the clock.
Jordyn contently snuggled closer to him.
"Oh well. I don’t have anywhere to be."
"Baby would you be really mad if I suggested you quit your job?"
Jordyn looked up at him. "Why?"
"You work too much and I want to take care of you. When I come home at the end of the day I want to know you’re here. I want to curl up and drink wine next to the fire. Is that selfish?"
"Maybe, but I think I like the idea. In three weeks I’m going to marry you and I want to fill this house with kids."
"Um, I like that idea. Let’s start now." He said pulling her up to his lips.
"Lance you promised."
"That I did, but the doctor said bed rest and I’m in bed."
"You’re terrible." She laughed. "I’m going to take a shower and let you cool down."
"The thought of you naked in the shower only turns me on more."
She smiled and shook her head at him as she headed to the bathroom.
She was standing under the hot stream of water when she felt two strong arms around her.
"What are you doing?"
"I couldn’t bear the thought of you in here alone and naked any longer. Now what do you say we start on that house full of kids?" He said raising his eyebrows at her.
"This sexual drive of yours is going to land you back in the hospital." She said in a more serious tone.
"Listen to me Jordyn. I’ll quit Nsync all together and never work again, but I will never quit wanting you and I’ll never take a break from making love to you for anything. Now where was I?" He said pinning her hands to the wall and trailing kissing up and down her.
"Oh Lance."
"I knew you’d see it my way." He said sliding up her body and meeting her eyes.
Two hours later Jordyn opened the front door to see a crowd of people standing before her.
"Oh this is a wonderful surprise." She said letting them all in.
"Well we were coming so we figured we’d bring everyone." Justin said kissing her on the forehead.
It was true they had. All four remaining Nsync members and their families plus Lance and her own filed into the house.
"Wow I never realized until now how many of us there are." Jordyn said.
"Well if you want more we could always invite them in." Chris said pointing to the crowd of fans standing outside the gates.
"No I think you all will do." Jordyn said smiling. "They’ve been here since yesterday. Maybe I should go talk to them."
"We already did. Heck we’ve been here for half and hour signing autographs." JC laughed.
"So how is he doing?" Diane inquired.
"Well he’s doing good with the bed rest. Too good actually."
"I bet he is." Joey said giving her a knowing look.
Jordyn instantly turned red.
"No need to be embarrassed dear we know what goes on when we’re not here." Diane said laughing.
"Well if it isn’t the welcoming committee." Lance said coming down the stairs.
"Shouldn’t you been in bed son." Jim asked. It being more of a statement than a question.
"I’m fine dad."
"We brought you something LB." Justin told him.
Quickly JC presented him with a golden retriever puppy and Lance laughed as Jordyn gushed over the dog.
"I made a comment on the plane the other day about getting a dog." Lance told her.
"It’s adorable."
"Yeah and for an autograph and a few pictures she was ours."
Everyone laughed at Chris’s comment.
"Thank you guys this is so sweet of you." She said giving each of them a kiss. "Can I talk to you all for a minute?"
"Sure." They agreed as they followed her onto the deck while everyone bustled around the house.
"What’s up?" Justin asked.
"I want to thank you guys for being so supportive. You mean the world to Lance and I both and I don’t know what we’d do without you."
"You don’t need to thank us Jordyn. We’ll always be here. Nsync or no Nsync." JC reassured her as they formed a big group hug.
"Hey you guys wouldn’t be trying to smooze on my fiancée would you?" Lance said stepping out onto the deck.
"Of course not man. We’d at least wait till you weren’t around." Joey teased.
Lance laughed as he joined in the hugging.
"It’s good to have you back man." JC told him.
"Yeah you had us all worried for awhile." Chris added.
"I’m fine now so let’s get this wedding planned so I can finally marry this beautiful woman." He said pulling Jordyn close to him.
Three weeks later Jordyn stood in front of the mirror in her and Lance’s bedroom admiring herself in the mirror.
"Are you nervous?"
"Absolutely not. I have never been so sure about anything in my life mom. How’s Lance doing?" She asked Diane.
"He was running around the house half dressed when I was there. He asked Justin six times if he was sure he had the rings and the marriage certificate. So he’s jumpy." She laughed.
"Oh honey you look beautiful." Bruce said joining them.
"Thank you daddy." She said kissing him on the cheek.
"There are four guys here who want to see you."
"Come in." Jordyn said.
"Oh wow Jordyn I’m speechless." Joey told her.
"Look at you guys! I don’t think I have ever seen you all look so gorgeous."
"Yeah we do look pretty good don’t we?" Justin said running his hands over the front of his tux.
"Don’t you boys have some place you need to be?" She told them.
"You’re right we do, but we wanted a sneak peak and let you know that Lance is one lucky guy."
"Thank you Josh."
"Let’s roll." Justin told them as the walked out the door.
Twenty minutes later they were in the limo on the way to the church and Jordyn’s cell phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Jordie C beware when you get here we have a mob outside."
"How?"
"I don’t know, but Mitch and Rob are waiting for you around back."
"Okay thanks Justin."
"What’s the matter?" Her mom asked.
"Seems we have a fan situation at the church."
"Oh no. Is it going to be ok?"
"It’s fine mom. Security will meet us in back."
When they arrived at the church Rob and Mitch rushed her inside.
"You ok Jordyn?"
"Yeah I’m fine guys thanks."
"It’s our pleasure. You look great."
"Thank you." She said smiling broadly at them as the slipped into the back room.
Half an hour later she was standing in the room alone looking in the long mirror when her dad slipped in.
"Are you ready it’s time."
She smiled and nodded her head.
She shook with excitement as the doors opened and the wedding march started playing. She had waited for this moment for so long and now here she was about to become Mrs. Lance Bass.
When she reached Lance they smiled at one another and she noticed he had tears in his eyes.
Jordyn then Lance exchanged their vows and then stepped up to light their unity candle. After the candle was lit Lance grabbed the microphone from the priest.
"I have a surprise for you Jordyn. Well the guys and I do." Lance nodded to them and the opening cords of "This I promise you." Filled the church and they began to sing.
Jordyn’s eyes filled with tears as Lance knelt before her. And I will take you in my arms and hold you right where you belong. Every word I say is true this I promise you.
It was these kinds of things that made Jordyn love him and the guys so much. They put so much thought into the things they did and it was always something spectacular and unexpected.
"I present to you Mr. and Mrs. James Lance Bass." The priest said when the guys were done. "You may kiss the bride."
