While some of the suggestions and recommendations were good, and your distribution of the e mail was noble, a question arised that "shouldn't this e mail be originated by the management themselves? At present we have nothing black n white except for the sweet talk. There are no real commitment demonstrated in solving the problem laes are facing by the engineering management. Bear in mind that foreigners are interviewing our laes as we speak and giving them offers they cud not refused. Laes felt second rated by their own people while very valued by the foreigners. I would like to express my full support on what u guys are doing but i feel i need to remind you of the sweet talk into a deal these guys are leading. The following are updates of what has been accomplished thus far. 1. LAEs holding B3 and G3 less FTB and Borescope and Compass Compensation will continue to hold those ratings, i.e., they will not be downgraded to a lower category of B2 or G3. The INs will be amended to reflect these changes. Meanwhile, training to equip LAEs with those skills will continue. 2. We have been invited by OC (Operating Council) to make a presentation on the "total package" for LAEs terms and conditions. Engineering Mgmt have been very supportive on this and we hope what we have drafted and presented many years ago may get through this time. 3. ASU Mgmt (En. Yusoff Majid and his team) will be doing a "road show" to highlight the improvements that are and will be done in the work environment, such as additional equipments purchased, manpower competency upgrades, etc. Pls interact and air yr concerns to them co that remedial actions can be done. 4. By this memo, we hope the LAEs committee set up in KLIA will work together with the main AMALAE exco to draft a proposal that will be eventually handed over to Mgmt. I have requested for 2 weeks to prepare as I believe the one that we produced years ago is still valid (in concept) though we may have to alter the figures. To all LAEs, pls also give your inputs. It is after all for your own benefits. 5. We will continue to update you on the progress of any meetings or discussion. Meanwhile, ensure your comments are sent to us so that we can act on them. TO ALL CONCERN ( pse pass the info to the rest of the LAES) Here is the summary of the minutes of the meeting attended by En rahim,En yusoff,En Haznam,En Azali nd amale pres En Rashid. 1/ all acft type allowances inc by 30 percent 2/ boroscope,fan trim nd compass will be paid allowance 3/first establishing licence will be paid 4/our request for a new basic pay will be looked into by engg mgmt will cfm after discussion wz higher authority. 5/ eng mgmt hv given assurance that a proper working environment will be provided in the future.good equipments nd etc... 6/ mechanic development will be looked into seriously.. 7/ proper acft maint is top priority which will be looked into. 8/ career developments for acft mechanics nd laes in the planning stage. 9/ attractive packages for lae in the making to prevent them fm leaving the airline.critical shortage of laes if they all leave. this is a brief summary of what was discussed.all the proposal wz engg mgmt will be cfmd in the next meet due on the 1st sep 2000.
