| Tygra The architect of Cat's Lair. Tygra is wise and one of the most skilled in battle. Aside from his great agility, Tygra also has the power to make himself invisible. Tygra carries with him his extending-and-contracting bolo whip, which he is very skilled in using. His bolo whip can make him invisible when he has it around his waist and it can snap fire as well. At times he uses it as a rope. |
| Lion-O Lord of the ThunderCats, Lion-O has many responsibilities for his young age. Although he looks much older than he is, he is still a teenager. Upon escaping the destruction of his home planet, Thundera, Lion-O aged practically overnight. At the beginning of this series, Lion-O is very immature, but in time he learns to think for himself and becomes a very brave warrior and leader. Because of his mentor, Jaga's death on the way to Third Earth, Lion-O wields the powerful Sword of Omens, which contains the mystical Eye of Thundera. He also carries the claw sheild. |
| Panthro The strongest of the ThunderCats, Panthro is also the oldest and one of the most skilled. Aside from his great strength, he is also wise and helps out with the repairs and installations on the Cat's Lair. He also created all the Thundercats vehicles. The spikes on his suit can extend and bend to form ropes, shields, and other objects to help Panthro in battle. Panthro also carries clawed nunchukas. |
| Cheetara The fastest of the ThunderCats, Cheetara is also one of the most agile. She has the power to go into a trance-like state to see into the future and also to look into the past. The price of this power, however, can sometimes leave her with little or no strength, so she does this only under the most grave circumstances. She also is telepathic and telekeneticCheetara carries with her an extendable staff which she is skilled in using, making her a formidable force against Mumm-Ra's mutants. |
| WilyKit and WilyKat The youngest members on the team, these two are extremely agile and skilled. Although not as skilled as the other ThunderCats, they are always ready to lend a helping hand to their team, no matter what the situation. While Wiley-Kit relies mostly on her smoke bombs and other capsules, her brother favors his lasso, though he does use capsules from time to time. They are also brother and sister. |
| Snarf Lion-O's "nanny" on Thundera, Snarf is more of a house-cat than anything else. He stays in the Cat's Lair and although he doesn't fight, he helps out the team in other ways. He watches out for Lion-O, making sure his young Lord doesn't get into trouble, and gives advice on how to handle certain situations and problems that might develop. |
| Jaga Once the leader of the ThunderCats, Jaga was the mentor of the young Lord Lion-O, until his death during the voyage to Third Earth. Because of this, Lion-O was forced to "grow up" inside one of the capsules aboard the ThunderCats ship. Even though he is deceased, Jaga's spirit is still with the ThunderCats, showing himself whenever Lion-O needs advice or guidance, or whenever a serious problem develops. Jaga was once the carrier of the powerful Sword of Omens, which he passed down to Lion-O before his death. |
| Pumyra The only other female on the team besides Cheetara and Wiley-Kit, Pumyra posesses great agility and can jump very high. She also has great speed, though not as great as Cheetara, and is skilled in the use of Thunderian medicine. She uses her lariat to throw bombs and other objects at her enemies. |
| Benjali This ThunderCat is a white and silver version of Tygra. A blacksmith on Thundera, he is skilled in the use of his hammer which shoots lasers and other objects and he once was called on to repair the Sword of Omens. |
| Lynx-O Lynx-O is the oldest of the three new ThunderCats. Though he is blind, by using his Braille Board he can see better than all the other ThunderCats and is the only one able to see Tygra when he is invisible. He also has enhanced senses of hearing and touch. |
