RATED: PG
Author’s note:
~Hey! I'm glad to you're reading my fanfic! I worked really hard on this-and it's my first one. Here's a little background info on the story: I go by the American version of Sailor Moon, so Fish Eye is a girl. Sorry if you don't like it that way. Also, the Trio already knows that they’re animals. There are two parts that are similar to the series. I didn't realize one until later (if you saw the Neflyte eps. then you'll know what I mean), and the ending is similar to the series too. I know Pegasus can heal people, but that would ruin my story! Oops did I give that away? Well, read on and see how you like it. Oh, and one more thing...you probably don't care, but I'd like to thank my friend Andrea for her opinions on the final outcome. ^_^
**Just so I don't get in trouble, these characters don't belong to me.**~
“True
Love”
It was another cool fall day in Tokyo. However, most people were either in school or at work, unable to enjoy the day. At the Dead Moon Circus tent, everyone was practicing their acts or just fooling around. Everyone except three, who were sitting at the bar deciphering over who the next target would be.
“How ‘bout this one?” asked Tigers Eye.
“No,” sighed Fish Eye, “she looks like the best dream she would have is sitting at a desk all day typing some stupid news article.”
“Well then you pick, if you’re so smart!”
“There aren’t any guys here, so it’s not my call. Besides, I did the last one,” replied Fish looking at her nails.
“And you failed,” mumbled Tiger.
“Stop arguing you two,” Hawks Eye put down his glass and looked at the different photos lying on the counter. “We won’t get anywhere by arguing.”
Tigers Eye slammed his glass down on the counter, spilling some of his drink. “If it wasn’t for those stupid Sailor Pumpkins, then we wouldn’t be having the trouble we’re having with Zirconia.”
“The Pumpkins just keep us from destroying the targets. The ones we go after don’t have Pegasus in their dreams anyways, so what’s the difference?” Hawk took a sip of his orange soda, and then picked up a picture. “Let’s try her. What’s there to lose?”
“Our heads could be one thing,” Tiger said, “If you want to try that girl then you go right ahead. I won’t stop you, but I’m not going. She’ll just be another failure anyways.”
“We’re really enthusiastic today,” snickered Fish.
“Shut-up!!!”
As the two argued again, Hawks Eye got up and mumbled, “I’m leaving, and behave you two.” Like they’re even listing to me, he thought.

Hawks Eye walked on a path in a park. As he walked, he memorized the looks of the target. Let’s see, long brown hair, glasses, and looks like she has blue eyes. If I did my homework right then she usually takes this route home everyday. He looked around for a bench or something else to sit on. What kind of a park doesn’t have a bench? Who cares. I don’t want to be here forever, so I’ll just sit in a tree. That way I can hopefully see her coming before she passes me. He jumped up onto the second to lowest limb and leaned back against the trunk of the tree.

Meanwhile….
“I can’t believe how boring school was today,” moaned Mina.
“You can’t? I think everyday is boring,” replied Lita. The two sailor scouts were walking home together like they do everyday. However, today they both decided to take the long way through the park since it was such a beautiful day. “Is study buddies still on for tonight?”
“I think so, but I’m not sure if I can make it. I told one of my friends at school that I would go to the championship soccer game with them at three. The game might last a couple of hours,” said Mina.
“Yeah, and we would be meeting at five.”
“Doesn’t it just figure? I’m going to this game and I have loads of homework to do.” Mina put her hands behind her head.
“I actually don’t have that much to do tonight; except math. I just don’t understand the concept of it.”
“Well, I’m sure Ami can help you. She’s really good at that stuff. I would help, but I’m in the same boat you’re in. I understand it enough to pass, but I don’t think I could explain it to you. Sorry.”
“That’s okay.” Lita looked at her surroundings. The trees are so pretty at this time of year, she thought. “Hey, Mina, I think I’m going this way,” she said motioning to the path at her right.
“Okay, but you do know that’s a longer way, right?”
“Yeah, I know. I want to look at the scenery though. I love this time of year. I want to enjoy it while it lasts.”
“Okay. I wish I could go with you, but I have to get home, change, and get back to the school before two so I can get a good seat.”
“Okay, then I’ll see you either at study buddies or after school tomorrow.” They each went their separate ways, waving bye to the other. Lita walked slowly down the path, holding her school bag with both hands. She saw the lake ahead of her and decided to sit under a tree and get a head start on homework.
* * *
Hawks Eye sighed as he viewed the different people. Isn’t she ever going to come? I’ve been waiting here forever! With the luck I’ve been having, I’ll bet she was home sick today. He crossed his arms, then saw a brown haired figure heading his way. He leaned over a bit to see her. Finally! Wait, I don’t think that’s her. But it has to be. The girl came over to the tree and sat down leaning against the trunk. She opened her bag and pulled out paper and a pencil. That’s not her. That looks like a schoolgirl. The girl I’m looking for has glasses and is some sort of secretary. I have to admit ,though, she is pretty. This girl caught his attention. He leaned over farther to get a better look at her. Suddenly, he lost his balance and fell over. He landed on the ground with a hard thud.
Lita jumped and looked at the person lying on the ground. He landed about five feet away from her. He lay there motionless. She crawled over to him, and leaned over to see if he was all right. His eyes slowly opened and Lita jumped back. He gave out a hurtful moan and started to get up.
“Are you okay?” Lita finally asked.
Hawks Eye didn’t notice she was sitting next to him. “I…think so,” he replied. He sat up and leaned back against the tree trying to catch his breath. I’m such a baka, he thought.
“What were you doing in the tree?”
Hawk was surprised at the question. Okay, Hawk…what were you doing in the tree? I was going to catch this girl and look at her dream. Yeah, like she’ll buy that. “Um…I was…here to meet someone. I…um…wanted to surprise them by jumping out of the tree when they came.” That’s basically the truth.
“Oh,” Lita said.
Hawk looked at her for a second and thought how beautiful she was. He went to position himself better when he felt a something on his right arm. He looked down to see blood running from a cut. He made a face that Lita noticed. She moved over to see. She made the same face he did when she saw the cut.
“You must have done that when you fell. Hold on, I have some tissues in my bag.” Lita reached into her bag, taking out the tissues. She moved over to the other side of the stranger. She lifted his arm in her hand and gently wiped away the blood. Hawks Eye watched her and looked at the cut on his arm.
“Here, hold this against it and put pressure on it.” He did so, and Lita reached into her bag again. She pulled out a hair ribbon she was going to fix for Mina. She won’t mind when she finds out why I used it. I’ll just make her another one out of the same material.
“Hold the tissue on it still. I’m going to tie this around your arm.” He moved his fingers out of the way when she had the ribbon holding the tissues. He winced as she tied it tightly. “Hopefully that will stop the bleeding. When you get home you can clean it and put better bandages on it.”
Hawks Eye checked the work she did. “Thanks. No one has ever helped me like this before.”
“You’re welcome. I’m glad I was here to help.” Lita looked into his maroon eyes.
Hawks Eye tried to think of something to say to her. Then he noticed her bag and scattered papers. “What were you doing before I fell?”
“My favorite thing in to do in the world…homework.”
“You like homework?”
“No, I was just being sarcastic. I hate it. Going to school is enough. Homework is aggravating. Especially when you don’t understand what you’re doing.”
“What don’t you understand?”
“Math. It’s pre-algebra. It just doesn’t make any sense to me.”
“Maybe I can help. I’m pretty good in math. Let me see.” Lita handed him her paper. He looked at it for a few seconds. “Oh, this stuff is easy.”
“I’m glad you think so,” Lita was starting to like this guy. She decided to try to see if she could get to know him better. “Can you help me with it?”
“I guess.” Hawk didn’t know that Lita was thinking the same thing he was. He liked her and was hoping to get to know her better.

It was 5:30, and there were only three out of the normal five that met for study buddies at the temple. Rae looked at her watch for the millionth time, Ami was studying, and Serena was biting her pencil eraser thinking about Darien.
“Is Lita ever going to show up? Mina called and said she might not come, but Lita never said anything,” Rae said.
“Maybe something came up and she forgot to call us,” said Ami still reading.
“Serena, did Lita call you before you came?” Rae waited for a reply. Serena was still in her own little world. “Serena? Serena!!!”
“What!? What happened now?” She gave Rae a dirty look.
“Never mind,” Rae said, shaking her head.
Just then there was a knock on the door and it opened. Mina popped her head in. “Hey guys! How’s it goin’?”
“Same old,” Ami said.
“Where’s Lita?”
Rae looked at her watch again. “We don’t know, she hasn’t called or anything.”
“She never came?” Everyone shook their head. “That’s strange. Last I knew she was coming. I walked home from school with her, but she took a longer way home than I did.”
“Maybe she’s in trouble,” suggested Serena.
* * *
At the same time the scouts were wondering the whereabouts of Jupiter, Tigers Eye and Fish Eye were sitting at the bar, wondering the same thing about Hawks Eye.
“I thought he said he wasn’t going to spend a lot of time with this one,” Fish Eye said outlining the rim of her glass.
“I don’t know, but I think we might want to find him. Maybe those Pumpkins got him locked up somewhere.”
“I doubt that, but I agree with looking for him.” They both headed out to search for their missing companion.
* * *
Little did the scouts or the trio know that their comrades were in a café drinking hot cocoa. Hawk helped Lita understand her math, and they eventually decided to go get something to drink together. They paid the bill, left the café, and headed back to the spot were they met. They silently walked through the park together. Suddenly, Hawk felt something in his hand. He glanced down to see Lita’s hand in his. He smiled and gripped her hand. She smiled in the fact that he accepted holding her hand.
* * *
Tiger and Fish were also taking a walk, keeping an eye out for Hawk. Then Fish saw something out of the corner of her eye. She dragged Tiger behind a nearby bush, and she pushed leaves away so she could look through. What she saw surprised her. Hawks Eye was walking alongside a human holding her hand! She silently motioned to Tiger to look through the bush. He was about to say something, but Fish stopped him. They tiptoed to another bush so they could watch what was happening. They both knew that this girl wasn’t the target he was supposed to get, so who was she?
* * *
Serena, Mina, Ami, and Rae were walking down the path Mina said her and Lita took earlier that day. “This is where we parted, right here,” she said.
“Are you sure?” asked Serena.
“Yes, I’m positive.”
“Lets see if she’s down there by that lake.” The four headed down the path looking for Lita. They heard a laugh that came from the left.
“Did you guys hear that?” The others nodded and they rushed behind a group of trees. They each peered to the side seeing a couple sitting down on the grass by the lakeshore.
“Hey! That’s Lita,” shouted Serena.
Rae put her hands over Serena’s mouth. “Quite Meatball Head! You’ll give us away.” They moved a bit closer in order to hear what Lita was saying to this guy they never saw before. Unfortunately, they couldn’t hear a thing.
* * *
Lita and Hawks Eye sat side by side, looking at sunset. Hawk moved his eyes to Lita. He couldn’t believe that this was happening. He never felt anything like the feeling he felt at that moment. What was it? He put an arm around her and she responded by leaning against him. She sighed and closed her eyes for a few minutes. Suddenly they heard a rustle in the bushes. Alarmed, they both looked around. No one was in sight. However, sitting in the bushes were Rae and Mina holding Serena’s mouth shut, who was trying to break free from their grasp. Lita giggled and stared into Hawk’s eyes, and he stared into hers.
“You know, we’ve spent the entire afternoon together and I’ve yet to find out your name,” said Lita.
“My name?” asked Hawks Eye lifting an eyebrow.
“Yes. I don’t think you know my name either.”
“No, I don’t.”
“Well, it’s Lita.” She blushed feeling a little embarrassed that they were just telling each other their names.
“That’s a really pretty name…Lita.” Hawk could feel his blood rush.
“Don’t you have a name?”
“Umm…yes…”
“Well, what is it?”
Hawks Eye never thought of making up a name. He didn’t want to act dumb, so he told her. “People just call me…Hawk.”
“Hawk?”
“It’s weird, I know”
“No! I like it. It’s different.” They sat in silence for a few more minutes.
Finally, Hawks Eye broke the silence. “I need to tell you something, Lita.”
“Yes?”
He searched for the right words. “I’ve…never felt like this about anyone before. You’re the first one that I’ve had true feelings towards.”
“Well, thank-you. I’ve had a lot of boyfriends, but not one was like you. You’re not a jock or some guy that is just going out for the heck of it. I really like you, Hawk.”
After another minute of silence, Hawk turned towards Lita. He looked deeply into her eyes. He brushed her hair back, which fell right back into place, then he took her chin in his hand. He leaned over and gave her a kiss. He sat back and waited for a reaction. She blushed and looked at the ground.
“I’m sorry…”
“No! I liked it.” She put her arms around his neck, and he leaned over and kissed her again. This time, the kiss lasted more than a second.
* * *
Fish Eye and Tigers Eye sat behind bushes with their mouths hanging wide open.
“Are you seeing what I’m seeing,” asked Fish. Tiger only nodded, too stunned to say anything. They watched as their fellow circus performer kissed a human who wasn’t even the target!
On the other side of the new couple, the other sailors watched in dismay. They sat in the same way the Amazons were; mouths hanging open, unable to say a word.
“Who is this guy anyways,” Rae asked. No one answered.
* * *
Lita and Hawk separated and looked at each other, both having a smile on their face. The sun was barely visible now. Lita cuddled up next to her new prince charming. Suddenly she jumped up. Hawks Eye was alarmed.
“I totally forgot,” she said.
“Forgot what?”
“I was supposed to got to study buddies with my friends. It’s okay that I didn’t ‘cause you helped me, but I never told them that I wasn’t coming. They must be worried sick.”
“Oh,” was Hawk’s only reply.
“I’m sorry, but I have to go for now.”
Hawks Eye was feeling a little depressed. He couldn’t remember the last time he felt so relaxed. “It’s okay. Can I see you tomorrow?”
“Of course! It’ll take forever for tomorrow to come, but I’ll be looking forward to it. How ‘bout right here around two? I have school tomorrow, unfortunately.”
“How about if I meet you outside your school? That way I can see you as soon as you come out and we can walk together.”
Lita was so happy to hear that he was so anxious to see her again. “That’s fine. It’s the high school on Willow Lane.” He nodded and took her in his arms. He kissed her again, they said their good-byes for the night, and she hurried off. He watched her until he couldn’t see her anymore. The sailors, noting Lita’s departure left as well.
When it was all quiet, Hawks Eye turned and looked at the lake again. He thought about the day’s events and smiled. Then he heard a noise coming from the bushes again. Out walked Tiger and Fish, both having their arms crossed.
“So Hawks Eye, who is this new girl you’ve been with?” Fish glared at him.
“She isn’t a target is she Hawk,” asked Tiger, “and by the looks of things you weren’t playing with her mind, were you?”
“You two were spying on me?! Well, if you must know, I met her while waiting for the target. She’s so wonderful. I don’t know what’s come over me, but I have this new strange feeling when I think about her.” Hawk felt the breeze against his face.
“Okay…so you’re telling us this,” said Tiger, “you were going for the target, saw this girl and…and fell in love with her?”
“That’s basically it.”
“Zirconia won’t be too happy,” said Fish.
“If he finds out. You guys won’t tell him, will you? Please?” Hawk gave them desperate looking eyes.
“I guess we can keep our mouths shut. But you still have to work,” said Tiger.
* * *
Lita walked slowly down the street. She couldn’t get Hawk off her mind. She’s been so jealous of Serena lately because of her and Darien. She wanted to have a relationship like that too. Then this really cute, nice guy falls out of a tree. And best of all, he kissed her! She was so happy.
As she walked, the others were close behind. They followed her all the way to the temple without saying a word. Lita walked up the steps to Rae’s room, opened the door and found no one around. Curious, she turned around. When she did she saw her friends standing there.
“Where did you guys come from,” she asked.
“I think the more important question is where you were this afternoon,” Rae said.
“Yeah, you didn’t show up today,” said Mina.
“Umm…I was…in the park doing my homework.” Lita was at a loss for words.
“And…” said Rae.
“And then I went to the café…”
“And you didn’t call us?”
“Well,”
“Oh, stop fooling around you guys,” said Ami. “Lita, they want to know who the guy was that you were with.”
Lita pretended like she didn’t know what she was talking about. “Guy? What guy?”
“Umm…the guy you were kissing,” said Serena.
“Were you guys spying on me!?”
“We were worried about you,” said Mina, “then we found you sitting with this other guy we’ve never seen.”
“Oh,” said Lita. “Well, he’s a very good friend of mine.”
“From the picture, you looked a little more than friends to me,” said Serena.
“Okay, you got me. He’s my new boyfriend.”
“What!?” They all said in unison. Lita explained what happened and how she fell in love with this pink haired cutie. The others didn’t say anything.
Finally, Serena said, “Well, I’m happy for you Lita.”
* * *
For the next couple of days Lita met Hawks Eye after school. They would walk to some sort of restaurant or through the park. They were very close and they meant a lot to each other. Lita went to study buddies still, however she had Hawk help her with anything she needed instead of Ami or one of the others, (except Serena). Hawks Eye continued to help Fish and Tiger look for the holder of Pegasus, however, he refused to attack anyone, and he still performed with the others in the circus if they were on.
However, one day, Tigers Eye and Fish Eye were sitting alone at the bar when Hawk showed up. He sat down with a smile on his face and looked at the others. They sat there with a disgusted look on their faces. They didn’t acknowledge him at all.
“What’s up with you two,” he finally asked.
They didn’t answer.
“Hello? Do you guys hear me at all?”
“Yeah, we hear you,” said Tiger, still looking straight ahead.
“Okay…so how’s the assignment coming along?”
“Like you should be asking,” replied Tiger.
“Huh?”
“You’re never here anymore. You’re always with that stupid human girl!”
“Hey! She’s not stupid!”
“Yeah, whatever,” said Tiger. “You missed Zirconia’s lecture today.”
“Did I?”
“Yeah, he yelled at us in front of everyone!”
“Because you’ve been failing?”
“Yes! That and the fact that you’re never around anymore!” Tigers Eye snapped.
Fish took a sip of her drink. “As a matter of fact, he wanted to talk to you when you got back.”
“Did he?” Hawks Eye crossed his arms. “Well, I’ll go to him later.”
“You’ll go to him now,” said an unknown voice.
The trio looked behind them and saw one of the weight lifters standing there. He walked over to them and grabbed Hawk’s arm. “You’re wanted too,” he said to Tiger and Fish. The weight lifter disappeared with Hawks Eye and the others followed.
In the center ring of the circus tent, Hawk was literally dropped off and the others appeared next to him. Zirconia appeared in his stand with Zircon. The trio silently stood there waiting for him to speak.
“Well,” he said, “it looks like Hawks Eye decided to show himself for once. Where have you been?” The trio could tell by the tone of his voice that he was not a happy camper.
“Well, sir…I was…umm,” Hawks Eye didn’t know what to say. If I tell him where I’ve really been, then who knows what he’ll do, he thought.
“So, you’re not going to tell me. So perhaps one of you’re friends will,” snickered Zirconia. “Tigers Eye, why don’t you tell me what’s been happening back stage.”
Tigers Eye was shocked. He glanced at Hawk who was giving a pleading look to him not to tell. “Let me put it this way,” said Zirconia, “one of you either tells me or I’ll destroy you all!”
Tigers Eye really didn’t want that to happen, so he spoke slowly, “Well, you see…Hawks Eye was looking for the target…” He looked over at Hawk who was looking at the floor. He continued, “and something happened that I’m not exactly sure of, but he…fell in love with some girl and has been seeing her and that’s why he hasn’t been here,” he finished quickly.
Zirconia still had the same face as before. “I know about that,” he said. “I just wanted to hear you say it. I’ve been watching Hawks Eye.” Zircon started showing clips of Hawk and Lita walking, kissing and having fun. The whole circus crew started laughing. Chants such as “Hawks Eye is a flirt” and “How could you sink so low as to go out with a human?” A tear ran down his face, and Tiger saw this. Suddenly Hawk had trouble breathing. He screamed out in pain. Fish and Tiger looked up to see Zirconia twisting his hand.
“Stop master! Please stop,” yelled Tiger. Zirconia did so and Hawk fell to the ground.
“Now, I want you to start paying attention to your work! Either do so or I’ll do that to you again; and next time I won’t let go.” Zirconia disappeared. Tiger and Fish took Hawk back to the bar.
Hawks Eye was in a sort of trance. He wouldn’t say a word. Tiger felt really bad about telling Zirconia about Hawks Eye’s secret love. “Hawks Eye, I’m really very sorry about what I did. I didn’t know what to do.” Tiger waited for some sort of reaction, but there wasn’t any. Hawk still stared into space. Fish got up and sat on the stool next to Hawk.
“Tigers Eye didn’t mean to tell, Hawk,” she said. “But you do know it was for yours and our own good, right?” No answer. “Look, Hawk. We’re both really sorry. However, you just can’t sit there and not say a word for the rest of your life. You need to tell your girlfriend the truth.” Hawks Eye closed his eyes. “I know you don’t want to,” Fish continued, “but we’ll all be better off. You do know that if Zirc the Jerk finds your girl, then he’ll probably kill her. Then you’ll be blaming yourself forever. You do understand what I’m saying, don’t you?”
Hawks Eye gave a deep sigh. He put his glass to his mouth, but didn’t drink anything. He put it down and looked straight ahead again. “How do I tell her? I don’t want to lose her.”
“You’ll just have to come out and say who you really are and what you’ve been doing,” said Tigers Eye.
“I can’t do that! You guys just don’t understand. Lita means everything to me. I don’t think I’ll be able to live without her.”
“Hawks Eye you need to do this. Zirconia will kill both of you! You heard him,” said Fish. Hawks Eye knew that she was right. He didn’t want Lita to get hurt on the account of him. He gave another sigh, and got up.
“Where are you going,” asked Tiger.
“To meet Lita,” he said and jumped into his portal.
Hawks Eye was walking slowly down the street, trying to think of an easy way to tell Lita that he was an Amazon, but that he still loved her. He walked by a jewelry store and something in the window caught his eye. Sitting in a black case was a gold bracelet with hearts on it. He thought how pretty it would look on Lita’s wrist. He walked into the store and asked the clerk if he could have a better look at it. When the clerk handed it to him, he examined it. Besides the hearts, there were the letters “I” and “You” separated by a red colored heart. “I’ll take it,” he said.
* * *
Lita walked out the front doors of the high school. She looked around for Hawk, who wasn’t in site. She walked past the gates of the school, and saw pink hair peeking behind a tree. She quickly walked over to him. He was leaning against the tree looking at the ground.
“Hey,” she said, “what’s up?”
“Oh, Lita. I didn’t see you there.”
“Is something bothering you?”
“Well, yes, but…Lita, let’s go for a walk.”
They walked to their normal spot in the park. It was by a pond that had a small fountain in the middle. They walked over to a bench and sat down. Hawk looked at a swan on the pond. Lita looked at the same swan, then she looked at Hawk.
“So what’s been troubling you?”
Oh, how do I tell her? he thought. “Lita, before I say anything, I want you to know that I love you more than anything in the world.”
Lita blushed, “I love you too, Hawk.”
“I have something very important to tell you. This isn’t going to be easy to say, but you need to know.” Lita looked into his eyes waiting to hear what he had to say.
“Well,” she said.
Hawk took a deep breath and started: “Well, I haven’t told you my whole story. I’m not a college student, I don’t live in a cool apartment, and…”
“And?”
“I’m not who you think I am, Lita.”
Lita was shocked to be hearing this. “Then what are you,” she asked.
Hawk took another deep breath. “I’m a performer at the Dead Moon Circus.”
“You work in the circus? How cool! I knew there was something you were hiding from me. Why didn’t you tell me before? I think it’s a really cool profession.”
“Lita, that’s not the whole story.”
“I’m listening,” she said.
Lita wasn’t the only one who was listening. Mina saw Lita and Hawk walking, and just to be her nosy self, she followed them to their present spot and hid herself in the bushes behind the bench, able to hear everything that was being said.
“The Dead Moon Circus isn’t just an ordinary circus,” Hawk explained, “We’re not only here to perform for people, we’re here to…”
“Here to what?”
Hawk knew that his next couple of words would be the start of the end of their relationship. “We also…look for beautiful dreams; one in particular that contains a flying horse named Pegasus.”
Lita gasped. He was an enemy! I’ve been going out with the enemy! She stood up and turned to him.
“You attack innocent people, look at their dreams, and attempt to end their dreaming for good!”
“I know. I’m very sorry, Lita. You don’t know how hard it was to come and tell you this.”
Tears formed in Lita’s eyes. “So I bet I’m a target too. Right!? Well, go on. Say it! Look at my dreams! Do what you came here to do,” she shouted at him. The tears were running down her cheeks now.
“I did do what I came here to do. I had to tell you this, Lita. I didn’t want to see you get hurt. I was threatened to tell you this, or you would be killed.” Hawk also formed tears that started escaping his eyes.
“Well, you failed. I am hurt. I don’t ever want to see you again!”
“Lita! Please!”
But it was too late. Lita was already running away from him. He fell to his knees and tightly griped the grass. He choked as he silently cried.
Mina couldn’t believe what she just heard. Lita was actually in love with the enemy, but he seemed to love her too. She peered between the branches of the bush. She saw him crying. He did love her, she thought.
Mina heard a weird laugh coming out of nowhere. She looked around to see a shadowy figure doing cartwheels. She started getting bad vibes a about this person. The figure stopped a few yards away from Lita’s boyfriend, or ex-boyfriend now, she guessed.
Hawks Eye heard the mysterious laugh. He jumped up and turned around to find someone doing cartwheels. The figure stopped in front of him and turned from a shadow figure into a weird looking clown. The clown laughed and introduced himself. “Howdy! I’m the Crazy Cat Clown! And I’m here to put you out of your misery Amazon!” The clown did another cartwheel and jumped into the air, then landing on one foot. “Ta da!”
Mina heard what the clown said and sneaked away. She ran into the direction that Lita took. As she ran, she called the other scouts telling them she needed help.

Fish Eye and Tigers Eye were sitting at the bar, waiting for Hawks Eye to return. They heard someone say, “Amazon Trio! The Grand Zirconia wants to talk to you!” They went to the center ring of the tent where Zirconia waited.
“I’m glad to see that the whole team showed up this time,” he said.
Tiger and Fish looked around thinking that Hawks Eye had come back, but he was nowhere to be seen. “What do you mean, Grand Zirconia?”
“I meant exactly what I said. The whole team showed up.” The two were still confused. “You don’t get it do you,” asked Zirconia, “Well, let me spell it out for you. The two of you are now a team. You are no longer part of the Amazon Trio. Your new name is the Amazon ‘Duo’.”
“But Master Zirconia,” said Fish Eye, “Hawks Eye is our third team member. What about him? Are you putting him by himself or something?”
“No, Fish Eye. Hawks Eye is no longer a part of the Dead Moon Circus. Let’s just say…he’s been retired.” Zirconia gave a half smile.
Tiger and Fish looked at each other and knew what had happened. “Excuse us, Master,” they said and vanished into the portals.
“Excellent,” said Zirconia, “they took the bait.”

“Well, I say we start the show,” said the clown.
Hawks Eye transformed into his circus apparel. He watched the clown jump around like crazy. What is he doing? Finally the clown froze, and then lifted his arm up. Hawks Eye went flying into the air and floated there.
“Remember what it’s like to soar?” The clown giggled. He waved his arm around, making Hawk fly around against his will. Then Crazy Cat put his arm down to his side, therefore making Hawk fall to the ground.
Hawk lied on his back for a moment then started to get up. When he got back onto his feet, he felt something tight around him. He looked down to see a rope holding his arms to his sides. The rope became tighter and tighter. Hawk fell on one knee; he could barely breathe.
Then two portals opened and out came Tigers Eye and Fish Eye. They immediately saw Hawk tied up. They started going towards him when they ran into something. Fish got up and put her arm out. “It’s an invisible wall,” she said.
“Don’t try to get to him now. You’ll spoil our fun!” The clown started laughing loudly.

Mina continued to run as fast as she could. She had transformed into Sailor Venus as to not waste time later. She finally spotted Lita slowly walking ahead of her. “Lita,” she yelled. Lita looked behind her and stopped when she saw Venus.
“What do you want?” Lita asked in a depressed tone.
Venus bent over, trying to catch her breath. “Lita, Hawk…he’s in trouble. You need to come quick!”
“I don’t care about him. Just leave me alone.”
Venus stood up again and put a hand on Lita’s shoulder. “Lita, listen to me. I heard what he said to you. I know it must of hurt, but he did it in order to protect you. He truly loves you!”
“No he doesn’t. He was pretending to love me so he could look at my dreams.”
“You know that’s not true! Lita, when you left he broke down crying! He’s still there, but some weird clown attacked him, and he’s in serious trouble.”
Lita looked at her. She realized that she shouldn’t have been so unforgiving. She immediately transformed into Sailor Jupiter. Before Venus could realize what happened, Jupiter was already running way ahead of her.

Crazy Cat Clown continued to tighten the rope around Hawks Eye. Then out of nowhere, he heard a shout he couldn’t make out and a lightning bolt flew across freeing Hawks Eye. Hawk fell to the ground, gasping for air.
“Hey! Who did that?” The clown looked around him.
“I did! I’m not going to let you hurt him!” Sailor Jupiter jumped out in front of Hawks Eye.
“Who are you?”
“It’s a Sailor scout,” said Tigers Eye to Fish.
Fish looked closely at Jupiter. “It’s the girl Hawks Eye loves.”
Jupiter ignored the clown’s question and turned to Hawk. She knelt down and helped him sit up. “Are you okay?”
Hawk was dazed for a moment. “Lita? Is that you? What are you doing here?”
Lita nodded. “I’m so sorry Hawk…”
“No, I’m sorry Lita.”
Crazy Cat frowned on the site. “Hey! You’re not paying attention to me! I won’t stand for it!” He opened his hand and a spade appeared in it. He raised his arm back and threw the spade towards Jupiter and Hawks Eye.
“Look out!” Exclaimed Fish.
Lita pushed Hawk to the ground and she landed next to him. The spade barely missed them. She looked up, making sure the coast was clear. She stood up and threw a lightning bolt at the clown, who absorbed it in his hand. Lita growled to herself. Hawks Eye stood up. He watched as the two threw lightning blots and spades at each other.
“Enough of this game,” said the clown. When Lita attacked him again, he threw a spade at the same time. The spade came straight towards her. Suddenly, she fell to the ground.
She looked up and saw Hawk standing where she stood. He was like frozen. Lita’s eyes became big and her mouth opened. She heard one of the spectators yell, “Hawks Eye!” Hawks Eye collapsed. Lita crawled over to him lifting his head in her lap.
The other Sailors arrived at the same time Hawk pushed Lita out of the way.
“We’re too late you guys,” said Mars.
“Hawk! Hawk! Why?” Lita looked at the wound in his chest.
“I didn’t want you to get hurt. I couldn’t live without you.” He closed his eyes for a moment then re-opened them. “I’m sorry I lied to you, Lita. It wasn’t easy to tell you the truth. I truly do love you.”
Tears ran down Lita’s face. “I know…I know. I’m sorry too.”
Tiger and Fish appeared next to Lita. They knelt down next to Hawk. Fish lifted his hand in her’s. “Hawks Eye,” she said.
“I’m sorry, guys. You got in trouble because of me.”
“Forget about that,” said Tiger.
“Hang in there, Hawks Eye,” said Fish.
He smiled at them, then looked at Lita. “I never would’ve guessed you were a sailor scout.”
“I kept something from you too, Hawk.”
Hawk gave a slight cry of pain as he shifted his weight. He raised his hand up and a gold bracelet appeared in it. “Here,” he said to Lita. “I got this for you.”
She took the bracelet and viewed it. It was so pretty. “Thank-you so much, Hawk. I’ll cherish it forever.”
Hawks Eye smiled again, and his eyes slowly shut. “Hawk?” said Lita. When he didn’t respond, her eyes immediately filled with more tears.
“Hawks Eye!” said Tiger and Fish at the same time.
“No!” cried Lita. She bent down and held his head. “Hawk! Don’t leave me…”
The Sailor scouts watched the scene, tears also forming in their eyes. Crazy Cat laughed hard. “Well, one down, two to go!”
When Lita heard this she fiercely looked up at him. She laid Hawk gently down on the ground, got up and started walking over towards the clown, who was jumping up and down.
“You think it’s funny? You killed him! I loved him and you killed him! You are not going to get away with it!” Lita sent out a powerful lightning bolt that was right on target for the clown. He got up and acted like he was drunk. “Sailor Moon! Do your thing, quick!”
Sailor Mini Moon called for Pegasus, and Sailor Moon used her Moon Gorgeous Meditation on the evil clown. When he was gone for good, the scouts walked over to the trio. Mercury knelt down to Hawk’s side and put her ear to his mouth.
“He’s still breathing,” she said.
Lita raced over and lifted his head again. “You’re right! He still has a chance!”
“We need to get him to a hospital as soon as possible,” Mercury said.

Tigers Eye, Fish Eye, Lita, and the others sat in the waiting room of the hospital. They waited for a nurse or doctor to give them the news. It seemed like hours before a nurse finally appeared.
“It’s a good thing you got him here so quickly,” she said.
“Will he be alright?” asked Lita.
“Yes, he’ll be fine. He’s resting now, but I’ll let a couple of you go in for a few minutes.” They all followed the nurse to the room Hawks Eye was in. She stopped and explained what they should expect. “He has a pretty bad wound. We have like a ton of bandages around him. Don’t talk to loud if he wakes up. I’m sorry, but there isn’t enough room in there for all of you. So you’ll have to decide who goes in first.”
That was easy for the scouts. The suggested that Lita and the Amazons go in, for they were the closest to Hawks Eye. The three walked in and saw Hawks Eye lying on his back, an oxygen mask over his mouth and an I.V. in his arm. Lita sat in the chair next to the bed and put her hand on his. There wasn’t a reaction, and she wasn’t expecting one. The Amazons walked to the other side of the bed.
“He’s sleeping,” said Fish Eye. “We probably should just leave him alone so he can rest.”
Tigers Eye nodded, but Lita said, “I’m staying here until he wakes up.”

It was around midnight, when Hawks Eye started to become conscious again. He stirred a bit, and slowly opened his eye. He looked at the environment, which was unfamiliar to him. By then, the oxygen mask was removed, so he didn’t know that he even had it on him. When he moved his hand, there was something heavy on it. He looked over to see a head with brown hair lying next to his hand, and the person’s hand was on his. Lita…he thought. He noticed something shiny on her wrist. It was the “I Love You” bracelet he had given her. He smiled and took hold of her hand.
Lita wasn’t in a deep sleep, so when she felt something tighten around her hand, she woke up. Her eyes opened to see another hand holding hers. She sat up and looked at the face that was smiling at her. She became very excited and a big smile spread across her face.
“Hawk,” she said. “You’re okay.”
He nodded and she leaned over and gave him a big kiss. At that moment, Serena gently opened the door and popped her head in. “Lita,” she said, “I was wondering if you needed anything…” She noticed that Hawk’s eyes were opened. “Hey guys! He’s awake,” she called to the others outside. They all came scurrying in.
“Hawks Eye!” said Fish.
The Amazons pushed their way over to his side.
“Hey,” Hawk said softly. His voice sounded very weak.
“Were glad you’re okay,” said Ami.

A week had passed since Hawk had his accident. The Amazon Trio had left the Dead Moon Circus for good. Rae had offered the Trio to stay at the temple until they were able to get their own place. Lita went to the temple every day; not just to go to study buddies, but to see her real prince charming.
It was another cool sunny fall day in Tokyo. That day, the five sailors and the trio were at the temple like most usual days. Rae was standing on the stairs to her room with a broom in her hands. Tigers Eye, Fish Eye, Ami and Mina were playing a game of Scrabble, and Rini and Serena were observing. As for Lita and Hawks Eye, they had just come back from a walk around the temple grounds. Hawk was still too weak to go to the park. They came over to where the others were sitting. Lita helped Hawk gently sit down, so he wouldn’t aggravate his wound. Lita sat down next to him and put her arm around his. They watched the Scrabble game as well.
“Ha,” said Tigers Eye. “Triple word score! I’m going to win now!”
“Sure you are,” said Hawk. “You never win anything.”
“Hey, be quiet you!”
“Will you too stop arguing!” yelled Fish. Everyone laughed. “Can we get through one day without the two of you fighting?”
“Well, he started it,” said Tiger.
“You asked for it,” said Hawk.
Fish moaned and put down a word.
Serena leaned over Mina’s shoulder. “Are you guys almost done? I want to play.” Rini giggled. “What’s so funny,” asked Serena, hands on her hips.
“Scrabble is too difficult for you. The only word you can spell is ‘flunk’,” answered Rini.
“Why you! Come here!” Serena started chasing Rini around. Everyone laughed.
“Well, you have Hawk and Tiger, we have Serena and Rini,” Rae said to Fish.
Lita laughed and looked up at Hawk. He smiled. “I’m so happy we have each other,” she said.
They kissed each other for a second. “Yes,” said Hawks Eye, “and I truly love you. And I always will.”
