The School

La Martiniere College, through its continued dedication to pioneering education and maintaining school traditions, has earned its reputation as one of the leading educational institutions in India.

La Martiniere is a medium-sized high school offering educational programs through three faculties - Humanities, Commerce and Science. It is affiliated to the Indian School Certificate Education Board (ICSE and ISC) based in New Delhi. More than seventeen hundred full-time students attend the school.

It was founded in accordance with the will of Major General Claude Martin. Classes commenced in 1845.

The college was deeply involved in the stirring events of 1857 when its students and teachers played an important and active role in the defense of the Residency for which the college was awarded Colours, the only school in the world with such an honour. Since then, its boys have fought in the wars of Imperial Britain and Independent India and continue to take part in every facet of national life.
