She looks out a window...

she looks out a window
Into a bright sunny day
Seeing only grey clouds
And not knowing what to say
A phone rings twice
She answers with a quick hello
Turning around to face the door
She sinks to the floor like Jell-o
The voice on the other end
Is crying and in pain
Her words cut like a knife
There is no more to gain
It is the call
She didn't want to hear
Slamming down the phone
She runs in fear
There's no where to go now
The tears are on her cheek
Suddenly she stops running
As she begins to feel weak
She knows she should go
And let them know she cared
But she's too afraid
Of what her friend dared
The pain is too much
If only she'd been there
Then maybe her friend
Might still breathe the air
