Chapter Nine
Kevin looked down at his hands. Shaking. They were still shaking. What
was the matter with Brian? He had given them such a scare. First the press
conference and then just moments ago clutching at where his heart lay screaming
for mercy. Then, strangely enough all of a sudden...he had stopped. Kevin
breathed deeply but quickly regretted doing so. The limousine still held the
odor of Brian’s sickness...or whatever it was. Kevin peered closer at the
liquid. It had the appearance of water but reeked of death. Brian sighed softly
in his sleep and Kevin placed his hand on his forehead gently. As he did so
Brian’s shifted slightly to reveal a pale blue mark in the center of his palm.

"Frick?" A voice was calling me. Again it called, only louder.
"Frick?" I could feel someone approaching me.
"Who are you?" The ebony darkness filled my head.
"Bri?" The voice was shaky and worn. "Where are you?"
"Nicky? Is that you?" The voice continued to call.
"Bri. I can’t see anything." His voice was soft and scared.
"I’m over here," I replied as I blindly fumbled around. I
felt something under my foot and heard a slight crunch. A moan escaped from the
object. "Nicky?" I slowly sat down so as not to sit atop him. I waved
my arms around until I found his shoulders. I embraced him tightly and when I
looked down I found a pair of baby blue eyes staring back up at me. I choked
back tears of joy. It was our Nicky. I had found our Nicky.
"I was all alone Frick." Tears streamed down his cheeks and I
hugged him tighter. "You left me alone."
"I’m here now."
"What happened Bri?" Worry filled his eyes.
"I..I don’t know. But it’s going to be okay now." His face
was gaunt and ashen.
"I was so sick Rok."
"Me too."
"I don’t want to be sick anymore." His arms were tightly
wrapped around his middle and I could see the nausea in his face.
"I know Frack.....I know. Hold on, ok? For me."
"I...I can’t," he spoke through grit teeth. He struggled from
my grasp and turned to retch violently on himself. "I’m sorry," his
voice was barely audible, a soft whisper.
"It’s okay," my voice was quiet as well. We said nothing for
awhile. Nick was the first to break the silence.
"Bri...do you think..do you think this is a dream?" I could
hear his teeth chatter against eachother harshly.
"More like a nightmare."
"Frick...?" I heard him grimace as pain soared throughout his
body and then the sound of his sickness emptying itself onto the ground below.
"Yeah?" There was a long pause.
"I want to wake up."
