Chapter Fourteen
The interview continued smoothly for the most part. While there were no
more outbursts, a few questions were a little disturbing. Some were thoughtful
though. One older woman asked if we had time to make friends or new
acquaintances on the road and how hard was it to trust people. I scanned the
audience and saw Dream conversing with one of the fans.
"Actually," I began slowly, "we have made a new
friend."
"Yeah? What's she like?" This came from Carson who I'm sure
felt left out of this particular show. I pulled myself up and ran over to Dream.
"Everybody, meet Dream." I took her hand and though she
resisted, I dragged her over towards Carson. She smiled tentatively to the
camera. Nick's face lit up brightly and he beckoned her over. He scooted over
and she sat alongside him on the large blue beanbag. She kissed his cheek in a
friendly manner. He smiled and leaned his head against her shoulder. Carson took
the time to ask some questions of his own.
"So, Dream, are you closest with Nick?" Nick removed his head
and sat up straight.
"Umm, I'd say me and Bri," Nick answered for her.
"Brian?" Carson turned to me.
"Definitely. I mean, we all get along great with her but the three
of us have really bonded," I said as I adjusted my watch. My wrist was
really starting to hurt. No, not my wrist….it was my hand. I glanced at my
palm and saw the blue mark throbbing with a pulse of it's own. I quickly shoved
my hand under my legs hoping the camera had missed that. Instinctively my gaze
shot over to Nick who suddenly had his head in his hands. He made no noise but I
could see he was feeling the same pain I was. Dream tucked his hair behind his
ears and whispered something, inaudible to anyone but Nick. He nodded, but his
head remained in his hands for the remainder of the interview, which happened to
only be five minutes to his good fortune.

When we arrived at the hotel it was about six and I was starting to get
hungry. I invited the other guys as well as Dream to join Leighanne and myself
for a room service feast. Hassling room service has always been a past time of
mine. Even if you only order a bottle of wine they send six or seven tenants to
bring it up to you. Then they all squeeze in through the doorway and offer to
shine your shoes and all that. It's definitely a humorous way to pass time.
Well, when the others arrived we glanced over the menu and ordered. The food
came, along with eight deliverers. Eight. I chuckled slightly under my breath.
When they finally left we sat down and began to eat, discussing the next day's
schedule. Nicky was so weak that Dream had to feed him. Literally. She lifted
small portions of his meal into his mouth where he would slowly chew them and
swallow. The pain in my palm had diminished and I ate ravenously.
"So, what's the plan for tomorrow?" Kevin addressed us all. AJ
stood, stretched and yawned loudly.
"Don't we host A Day In The Life Of A Fan?"
"Yeah. Something like that," I said, shrugging. Nick shot up,
his legs teetering.
"I'm gonna throw up," he mumbled sluggishly. He staggered off
towards the bathroom with Dream following closely behind. She shut the door but
the sound of Nick's moaning still escaped through the wood.
"Poor Nicky," I said sadly. Such sufferance.
"Poor Nicky?" Leighanne questioned me with raised eyebrows.
"How about poor Dream? All that work to get the food in his mouth and it
didn't even stay there for twenty minutes!" I laughed but immediately
regretted doing so. My stomach churned and I bent forward. Howie stepped over to
me.
