If You Knew What I Knew:
Chapter 11

Kevin

I’ve never really hit anybody before.  Football doesn’t count.  That’s a sport.  But I punched Howie with a force I didn’t know that I had in me.  I watched my hands fly at his body and watched as the blood poured from his nose and from the cuts in his face that I made with my ring.
“I hate you!  I hate you!” I didn’t know who was yelling it, but someone kept saying that over and over.
I hoped they were talking about Howie.  I felt like I could kill the boy!  Before I could, I felt AJ and Brian pulling my arms backwards so I couldn’t hit Howie anymore.  When they started to pull me up, I kicked at Howie with my feet.  All I knew was that I had to hurt him in anyway possible.
“Come on, Kev!” Brian’s voice was strained as he was trying to push me down into a chair.  He and AJ held me down as I tried to get back to beating Howie’s dirty little face in.
“Dude, Kev!  What the heck is wrong with you?!” AJ was breathing hard.
“You dirty little Puerto Rican!” I spat at Howie,  “I hate you!  I hate you!”
“We know!  You were screaming it the whole time!” Brian had his arms crossed across his chest.  I guess the screaming was coming from me.  I didn’t even realize it.
Howie stayed quiet.  He had sat up and he was trying to get his nose to stop bleeding.
“Serves you right!  After all that you did.” I was still mad.  I don’t think I could ever forgive him.

“What?” AJ turned towards me.
“Oh you’re a freaking liar too!” I shoved AJ from where I was sitting.  “You were in on it too.  You both were!  I tried to warn Nick, but he and Brian were playing video games and they weren’t listening to me.  Then I forgot all about it because we were doing a show and I haven’t seen Nick since!”
“What are you talking about, Kevin.” Brian’s voice was edgy.
I stared Howie in the eye.  “Tell him.  Or should I tell him for you?” I waited for Howie to say something.  He was just staring at me in disbelief so I told Brian what I knew.  “Oh, Brian you’re gonna really lobe this.” The sarcasm was thick in my voice.  I couldn’t help it.  “If you knew what I knew.  Tell him, Howie.”  Howie still didn’t make an effort.  “Fine.  Well, cuz, what I had been trying to tell you guys was someone was plotting to kill Nick.  There was also an accomplice,” I looked at AJ who quickly turned away.  “I don’t want to mention any names or anything but one of their names starts with ‘How’ and ends with ‘ie’.” I stared at Howie who was now sitting uncomfortably on the floor.
“Howie?” Brian stared at him.  Howie didn’t meet his gaze.
“Bone?” He turned toward AJ who was still looking at the ground.  “I can’t believe this you guys.  There’s no way.  Uh-uh!  There’s no way!”
Brian looked around the room at each of us before running out of the room.
