Chapter 4: Don't Want You Back
AJ
"Hey, Mel," I wrapped my arms around her waist and kissed her, but not after looking around to make sure that none of the guys were around.
"AJ," she said, her voice cracking a little. "I really need to talk to you. It's really important."
I looked into her green eyes. "Melanie, you know you can always talk to me." I cupped her chin with my hands. "I love you, you know that."
"Oh, AJ, you're not making this any easier for me." She started crying. "I can't talk to you right now though. You've got to promise me that you'll meet me."
"I promise," I said, wiping away her tears. "I promise you anything."
"Then promise to meet me in my hotel room at six. And don't bring me anything. Just bring me you." Her tears kept falling and her chin shook.
"Mel, tell me what's wrong," I begged. "I can't stand to see you cry!"
"Then if you promise to meet me, I'll promise you that I'll try my hardest not to cry. Deal?" She wiped her eyes and put on a smile.
I kissed her lips. "Deal."

Knock, knock, knock!
I waited for Melanie to answer the door to her hotel room. I turned to my right and nearly peed in my pants.
Great! The only thing that we need now is for Brian to show up! I thought, mentally urging Melanie to answer the door fast.
"Hey, AJ." Mel didn't look good. I knew better than to kiss her with Brian so close.
"Hey, Mel," I walked in and sat down in one of the chairs at the table.
"Okay, you'll have to wait till.."
Knock, knock, knock! The knocking interrupted her.
"I'm not ready yet!" She mumbled quietly under her breath. She slowly walked to the door, turning the knob slowly.
"Hey, Mellie!" Brian was standing in the doorway. Great! I thought. But what surprised me even more than Brian showing up was Mel's inviting him in.
"AJ!" Brian looked really surprised to see me.
"Hey, Brok!" I gave him a five-shake. (A "five" that turns into a handshake.)
"Sit down, Bri." Mel pointed in the direction of the bed. Brian, seeing that she wasn't looking good, did exactly as he was told. Mel went pulled another chair from the table that I was sitting at and placed it right in the middle of me and Brian. She slowly sat down, folding her hands in her lap, then unfolding them.
"Well," Melanie started to say something. All I wanted to know was why she pulled me and Brian in the same room.
"Well," she started again. She began to cry and put her hands over her face. Brian reached out to comfort her before I could, but she still pulled back.
"No! Don't." She looked him straight in the eye. "Please don't. You'll just make this harder to say." Brian sat back down on the bed, looking hurt.
"I'll just get this over with." She wiped her eyes and took a deep breath. I didn't think I was going to like what she was going to say next. "Brian, I...Brian, me and AJ have been secretly seeing each other for the past few months. I'm so sorry and I wish that I didn't hurt you like that."
"What?!" Brian shouted. He stood up and walked over to Melanie's chair and crouched down. I was in too much of a shock to even say anything. I couldn't believe that she told! And then she made it seem like I meant nothing to her!
After quietly talking to Mel for a few seconds, Brian came over to where I was sitting.
"Is this true?" He sounded eerily calm. "Is this true Alexander?"
I flinched at hearing him say my name with such hate in it. "B-Rok I'm sorry! I didn't mean..."
"You didn't mean?! The hell you didn't mean! What the hell were you thinking? You knew how much I loved Mellie! How could you do this to me? How could you keep on smiling in my face, knowing that you were with my girlfriend?!" His whole body racked with anger.
"I don't know what I was thinking! All I knew was that I really loved Mel. I do, Brian!" And with that, Brian punched me in the face for all he was worth.
"What the hell?!" I was so mad that I swung back, connecting with Brian's jaw.
"STOP!" Melanie jumped between us and Brian had to pull back his fist before he hit her. Everything went deadly silent for a minute. Me and Brian just sat there glaring at each other.
"Just stop," Melanie sat back down in her chair. We did the same. "You guys are supposed to be friends! You guys have to see each other everyday! You have to work together and perform together! You can't be fighting!"
"But, Mel, why did you say..?" I couldn't finish.
"There's a reason that I told." She looked me straight in the eye. "You don't know how much worse it's gonna get in a few seconds." She looked at Brian, then me, and then stared at a spot in the exact middle between us. "I went to the pharmacy this morning. I bought something that's going to change my life forever." She stopped talking and closed her eyes. Her face went pale and she began to cry silent tears.
"What did you buy Mellie?" Brian asked.
"I bought a pregnancy test," she said, opening her eyes and focusing on the wall. "I bought a pregnancy test and you know what the test said?" We both knew what it said but we didn't want to face the reality. "I tested positive!" Her voice was angry. "I tested positive." Her voice suddenly turned sad and she started to sob.
Neither of us moved to comfort her. One of us was going to be a dad. I didn't know who it was going to be. But I knew for a fact that Brian didn't know that we had slept together.
"Can I ask just one question?" Brian said, his voice holding no emotion. Melanie picked her head up out of her hands and looked at him. "Melanie, who's the father?"
