~~*Chapter Seven*~~

     Brian ran to Cilia.

-         Cilia, please wait !

She looked surprised.

-         Brian ? What are you doing here ?

-         I’m following you since you and Morgan left our hotel.

-         You’re following us ? God, but why ?

-         I need to talk to you.

-         And you couldn’t do it while we were at the hotel ?

-         I need to talk only to you, not to Morgan. Actually, I want to talk about Morgan with you.

Cilia was confused.

-         It’s okay, but… Come home, I’ll give you something to warm you. You look frozen like an iceberg.

-         Well, I have an explanation for that. I’m waiting for you to be out of Morgan’s for at least one whole hour.

She laughed.

-         I live nearby. Come on, Mister Spy !

A few minutes later, they were sitting in armchairs inside of Cilia’s parents’ house, drinking some hot chocolate.

-         So what do you want to talk about ?

He looked up from his mug and grinned.

-         Morgan.

-         Can you elaborate a little, please ?

-         Sure, for you I will do it.

He sighed and stopped joking.

-         I know that she doesn’t see anymore.

-         She told you the story ?

-         Yes.

-         And ?

-         I wonder… Chris…

Cilia shook sadly her head.

-         This is so awful… They really were inseparable. They got along so well. Always caring for each other, him protecting her… Everyone was sure than they would never be apart. And then… Everything crashed. He died in the accident, the truck was coming on his side. This day was the worst of my life. My best friend became blind and Chris… I couldn’t believe it when they first told it to me. I loved him… He was a sweetie. Morgan loved him so much… Now she misses him badly, she doesn’t accept  the fact that he’s gone forever.

-         I’m sorry for her… Losing the one you want to share all your life with is the worst thing a lover can go through. Especially this way.

She looked at him without understanding.

-         A lover ? What do you mean ?

-         Morgan and Chris… ?

Now Cilia was laughing out loud.

-         Lovers ! Ah ah, Morgan has to hear that !

Seeing B-Rok’s face made her become sober. He was staring at her with big eyes full of sadness, and she understood that it wasn’t a funny question for him. He needed to know.

-         Chris was Morgan’s loving older brother, Brian. Not her boyfriend.

She decided to tell him more. It was totally obvious that he was falling for Morgan, and Cilia knew they would be the perfect match. It just had to work between them. Her best friend was so  unhappy since the accident, and maybe that Brian was the key to enter happiness again. He’s sent by Heaven, thought Cilia. He’s all what’s missing in her life.

-         Actually, she has never had a real boyfriend, who she wanted to share her life with. She was looking for the perfect boy, her half. She wasn’t interested at all in one-month boyfriends. And now… She thinks no man will love her because of her blindness. She’s only twenty-two. Isn’t it unjust ?

-         Yes, it is, whispered Brian.

There were tears in his sweet blue eyes.

-         Do you think that I… That she…

Cilia reflected one second. Her voice was firm when she replied to his mute question.

-         Yes.

She knelt in front of him and looked into his eyes, seeking something deep inside them. The only things she could see were truth, love and care. Pain, too. But this she already knew it. Morgan told her, with a choked voice, how much he was hurting. After a little while, she smiled. She found what she wanted, she was now sure of her answer. She hugged him, murmuring into his ear :

-         She needs you, Brian. You are the key.

He didn’t understand what she meant with the last sentence, but her first words were resounding inside his head as he was walking back to the hotel.

“ She needs you…”

Cilia, now alone in her room, took the two empty mugs to the kitchen. She began to clean them, but soon her hands stayed still in the warm water. She was gazing at the sky through the big window in front of the sink. And she suddenly grinned to the clouds.

-         Thank you, thank you so much for finally sending her a guardian angel.
