Vandewalker Makes the News!

The "E" is for Ian! Readers of the Bradenton Herald got a treat on Saturday, May 26. The Local & State section included a cute little fluff piece on those wacky New College kids and their wacky graduation ceremony. Guess who was the featured wacky graduate--our very own bachelor of smarts, Ian Vandewalker! That's right, New College let Vandewalker graduate and must sorely regret it now, since he has made a mockery of the 2001 commencement ceremony with--of all things--a Superman costume! The young geek took his love of comics to the proverbial house by combining a fondly-remembered childhood Halloween costume with New College's four winds logo and a lot of chutzpah to create a graduation tour de farce for all to enjoy. Click here for pictures scanned straight out of the paper. By the way, calling it a "fluff piece" is, admittedly, a little misleading, since it's really just two pictures and a list of graduates. But that's more than the Sarasota paper ran!

Vandewalker Moves to Bdorm

Well, they've finally broken him. Namby-pamby momma's boy Ian Vandewalker, the one who swore he'd never live in filth and/or poverty, has been forced to live in that hellhole of New College dorms, Bdorm. The horrific problems with the dorm include, but are not limited to: shared bathrooms, shared kitchens, and small rooms. When asked for comment, Vandewalker said only, "Watch my column, you'll see some comments there soon enough."

New College Alum Listens to Tom's Cosmic Radio - Gets Nostalgic

By guest writer Jake Reimer

Jake Reimer of Coatesville, PA reported getting "them old-time feelins" about New College today after listening to part of Tom's Cosmic Radio's debut CD. "Its funny, I mean, I only heard them play once or twice, but somehow when I put in that CD, I started thinking about all the people and places I miss at New College," said Reimer. When contacted by phone, Margaret Hughes, another New College alum had little to say. "I have to go back to sleep, what time is it anyway," she is reported as saying.
