What can I say about
Kraken Isaac? He, as most of the SS characters, was an
orphan, who ends up being trained by Aquarius Camus (or
Crystal in the anime) to try for the Cygnus Cloth -how
did he end up being trained by Camus is never
established, but I believe that, by the way Isaac thinks,
he probably decided to train to be a Saint by free will
and just asked him to train him- Is during this training that he meets Hyoga, the only trainee that, as Isaac, doesn't give up despite the harshness of their training. Soon, despite the fact that the two of them know that they will have to face each other to gain the cloth, they become friends. But their friendship is altered when, after training, Isaac confess Hyoga the reason why he's trying to be a saint. To dedicate his life to justice, to stop cruelty and punish unfair deeds. To be like the mighty Kraken, strong and just. Later on, Isaac learns Hyoga's reasons. To be strong enough to break the ice that stops him from seeing his mother. Isaac finds this reason selfish and unworthy of a saint, and tries to change his friend's mind -even to the extent of beating him to pulp-, but everything is useless. Hyoga, despite feeling ashamed, wouldn't change. Yet again, friendships aren't that easy to break, so when Hyoga is finally able to break the ice and dive to see his mother's body, getting caught between the ship's ropes before reaching her, Isaac doesn't hesitate to dive after him and help him. But the current gets too strong and pushes the two of them away from the place where they dived, 'throwing' Isaac against a 'pike' of ice, which costs him his left eye. Using all the strength he has left, Isaac makes a hole in the ice and pushes Hyoga out of the water, but the current pushes him away before he is able to follow him, slowly craddling him to his death. But when he was starting to lose his hopes, a strange light shone before him, and soon he found himself in the Artic Sea Pillar, with the Kraken Scales waiting for him. It is by serving Poseidon as the Artic's Pillar General that he meets Hyoga again, this time not in friendly terms, but as enemies. Isaac, who had been watching his former friend's activities, feels disgusted by the way he has behaved and fights him with all his might -despite Hyoga isn't fighting back- It is only when Isaac attacks Kiki that Hyoga reacts, finally understanding Camus' words about Saints having to forget their feelings when fighting, and he 'Aurora Executes' (^-^) Isaac, winning the fight. With all grudges put aside, Hyoga and the dying Isaac speak for a last time, not as enemies, but as friends once again; Isaac using his last breath to warn Hyoga about Sea Dragon's true identity and the real reason of Poseidon's rebirth. All in all, Isaac is a wonderful character with an outstanding personality and a deep, complex past; whose beliefs and way of thinking always facinated me. He's a man who knows what he wants to do with his life, generous and altruistic (and also incredibly handsome ^-^), with a goal and all that it takes to accomplish it. He would have been a great Saint, and Poseidon must have surely feel lucky to have him by his side and not against him. Too bad that, because of being a Mariner, we don't get to see much of him, neither in the manga nor the anime -he dying against Hyoga doesn't help much either- . Kraken Isaac is a man whose fate was cruel and harsh, but despite all, managed to fulfill his dream. He managed to be the Kraken, the just being who punishes those who are unfair, not only in body, but also in his soul. He's definetely someone to look up to.
