Estonska je policija u sastavu Ministarstva unutrašnjih poslova, čija je glavna agencija Policijski odbor koja rukovodi, upravlja i koordinira svim policijskim institucijama pod svojim nadzorom. Estonskom policijom neposredno upravlja generalni direktor. Odbor nadzire četiri nacionalne agencije: Nacionalnu kriminalističku policiju, Nacionalnu policiju (temeljnu), Centralni forenzički servis i Policijsku školu. Estonija je sa svojih 45.000 kvadratnih kilometara i 1.400.000 stanovnika podijeljena na četiri regije. Policijske snage broje 3585 policajaca i 1160 civila. Estonska policija je osnovana 12. 11. 1918. godine i taj se dan slavi kao Dan policije.

 

The Estonian police is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs The central agency is Estonian Police Board, which manages, direct and co-ordinates the activities of all police institutions under its administration. The Estonian police is headed by te Director General. The Police board supervises four national agencies - the Central Criminal Police, the Central Law Enforcement Police, the Forensic Service Centre and the Police School - and 4 Police Prefectures which are territorial police agencies.Estonia have 45.000 km² with 1.400.000 inhabitants and 3585 police officers and 1160 civilian support staff. The Estonian police was founded on 12 November 1918, the date which is now annually celebrated as the Police Day.

Oznaka Estonske policije se sastoji od plave podloge, preuzete sa državne zastave, koja simbolizira mir i stabilnost. Na plavom je polju uzdignuti lav koji u svojim prednjim kandžama drži državni grb. Lav je izbran kao simbol plemenitosti i hrabrosti. Držanjem državnog amblema pokazuje svoju spremnost u obrani javnog reda i  državnog interesa. Amblem se koristi od 1935. godine.
 
The main colour of the embem of the Estonian police is blue, which is one of the colours from national flag of Estonia and symbolizes peace and stability. On blue field is white rampant lion holding in his front powns a small Estonian coat of arms. Lion reprezents nobility and courage. Holding the coat of arms symbolizes readiness to protect the public order and the state's interests. The Estonian police first started to use this emblem in 1935.
