Asking for signatures to be added to the mail
Warning that a virus is about to crash your computer
Telling a sad story about a dying child
Horror stories - chat room killers, carpark rapists
organ thieves, gang rituals, dreadful diseases
Alerting you to Government plots to add taxes or spy on you
Especially those warning of dire consequences if you don't pass them on.
Simply because an email tells you to
