What I Really Learned in Faith, Reason and Revelation
This course has taught me alot, it made me a better thinker, and the course enabled me to think outside and beyond the box.
If i had the opportunity to recommend this course to others, I would. I Have to admit not all things that were discussed were interesting to me, however, I would say, easily, 90% of the topics covered, were in that interesting category. This course forced me to develop the act of reasoning things, and enjoying it. I can't tell you how many nights my Dad and I discussed the same topics at home, spending hours debating.
I sought whence evil comes and there was no solution.-St. Augustine of Hippo One topic I still struggle with is the The Problem of Evil . It is very hard for me to comprehend this theory, because I constantly think of it when something evil happens. I understand that God doesnt intend or want the horrible things to happen, but how does he allow them? He gives us the opportunity to live out what he sent us here for, but do all accomplish this? I think not.
I truly believe that this class was a life lesson, it has given me some very valuable tools, the tools to think past the norm, to try to live the Examined Life, and through all that this course has to offer, to be your own, to be a leader, and to express your thoughts precisely and thoroughly. The course was nothing that i expected, i thought it was going to be another lecture after lecture. But this course inspired me to find my own way to think, to be able to break down situations, and ask the questions that no one thinks about. This course has given me the opportunity to develop the way I think, to seek the answer, and analyze the topic. I used to read for detail, as in our English classes, but in some cases, not just reading, possibly everyday life, you might just need to broaden the spectrum and not be so focused, there is a time and a place.
To put my thougths into simple terms, I found this course extrmemly helpful interms of guiding the way I live the rest of my life. Before this course I would study things to memorize, thats it. After this course I now find myself asking questions to why this ball drops this way(physics), or why do we use the numbers that we have, how were they created and designed, some deep questions that I won't know the answer to. More importantly this course has improved the way I have looked at my religion. How i treat instances, related to religion, with knowledge that I have obtained in your class. It has caused me to listen more intently to the readings at mass, to ask questions about those readings and seek the answer.
