The book entitled STALIN’S LAST CRIME [THE PLOT AGAINST THE JEWISH DOCTORS]  by Brent and Naumov could more accurately be titled, STALIN’S  SUPPORTERS INVESTIGATE THE LAST CRIME or THE LAST CRIME ATTEMPTED AGAINST STALIN or THE PLOT “BY” THE JEWISH DOCTORS since considerable evidence is inadvertently presented to prove attempts were being made on the lives of Soviet leaders after WWII and two individuals [Zhdanov and Schcherbakov] in particular were successfully murdered.  At the same time Stalin’s role throughout the volume is quite ancillary and largely reliant upon conjecture, innuendo, and supposition as opposed to open confessions by those in the Doctor’s Plot and those acting as foreign agents through the Jewish Antifascist Committee.  The work is a product of the Yale University Press and its special projects manager for the Annals of Communism series and was issued through the assistance of Robert Conquest, Robert Tucker, and William F. Buckley, leaving no doubt as to its ideological orientation and intent.  All three are intractable anti-Communists with years in the service of reaction and fascism.  Conquest wrote that horrendously deceptive propaganda piece known as The Great Terror, Tucker is a reactionary Indiana University professor with whom I had a tangential acquaintance years ago, and Buckley is a fat cat financier of evil causes who a) inherited a fortune through his daddy’s oil exploitations,  b) initiated in the 1950’s the crypto-fascist publication known as The National Review, and c) wrote a book entitled McCarthy and His Enemies in which he defended Joe McCarthy the fascist whose name will be forever applied to the repression that occurred in the United States following WWII in which the Left in general and the American Communist Party in particular  were crushed through firings, jailings, intimidation, black lists, and other accouterments normally associated with your average fascist state.  The American ruling class tries to blame that period on one man as if only he were responsible when thousands of government officials, especially those in the American secret police [the FBI], were involved.
                Trying to prove Stalin was associated with the perpetration of a crime, let alone being actually involved in its planning, based upon the material found in this book is to embark upon a journey to nowhere.  Not one piece of solid evidence is presented to link him with any criminal activity while a sizable amount is available to convict his opponents.  Open confessions of criminal activity are quoted.  The obvious attempts by the authors to link Stalin with criminal activities are nothing short of pathetic.  One would be hard-pressed to find any material therein that would even be admissible in a court of law, much less withstand cross-examination.
                One prominent example of sick scholarship was the strong implication, but never open assertion, [the work almost never makes blatant allegations regarding Stalin] that Stalin engineered the murder of Zhdanov because Zhdanov’s son, Yuri [later to be Stalin’s son-in-law] wrote a piece attacking geneticist Lysenko’s theory that acquired characteristics can be inherited.  That piece of garbage can be smelt on page 87 and its environs.  Imagine!  Based upon anemic innuendoes we are supposed to believe that Stalin masterminded the killing of one of his closest friends because the son of that friend wrote a piece criticizing a scientist propounding a mere theory of genetics and then Stalin later looked so favorably upon that same son that he condoned him marrying Stalin’s daughter, Svetlana.  ‘Bizarre’ is hardly the word for it.
                One of the most depressing discoveries one can make when it comes to the world of politics in general and Marxism-Leninism in particular is the degree to which humanity has been sold what can only be described as a “bill of goods” when it comes to Joseph Stalin.  I am shocked at the degree to which millions have swallowed the mountain of anti-Stalin sewage that has masqueraded as objective scholarship based upon unproven  slanders, innuendoes, and accusations.  Not only have the latter issued forth profusely since 1956 in deceptive tomes lacking evidence and corroboration but even supposed allies of Marxism-Leninism have accepted them as gospel without so much as a shred of substantive evidence, the kind of evidence that would withstand cross-examination in a bona fide judicial proceeding.  One of the most revealing facts coming to my attention in recent years is that there is a tremendous amount of information available in the fSU proving the enemies of Stalin were guilty as charged throughout the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s and persecution of opponents for ideological reasons was not the motivation.  This information is being systematically hidden for the obvious reason that it would not only exonerate Stalin and his allies but convict his opponents of criminal activities involving terrorism, espionage, and subversion for which appropriate penalties were often applied.  The valuable data is being sequestered by several insidious devices.  First, there are restrictions as to who has access to what archives, so proponents of Marxism-Leninism and supporters of Stalin are surreptitiously excluded.
                Second, even when potential supporters of Stalin are allowed access to particular files and archives, the current rulers of the fSU know, as do American capitalist rulers and propagandists, that only a small fraction of the Marxist leadership of the world can read or write Russian.  So, a Marxist could be walking through a veritable gold mine of pro-Stalin material and not even know it.
               Third, anti-Marxist, anti-socialist propagandists are not only allowed much greater freedom of access but retain a major source of support when they can’t read Russian.  Translating costs money, lots of money, and only the fat cats can meet the expenses involved.  In the acknowledgments of many books written in conjunction with access to
          Soviet archives one will nearly always see a litany of foundations, corporations, and wealthy capitalists, such as George Soros, paying the bills.  The very fact that large sums of money are needed for extensive translations gives the fat cats and their mouthpieces a huge advantage.  They can pick the works they want translated; they can censor material after it is translated, and they can select “scholars” they know will “cherry pick” from material being selectively chosen.  Talk about tailoring history from your perspective!
                Evidence for these assertions lies in the fact that several years ago I learned there are volumes of evidence and testimonies by those who spoke at the trials of such generals as Tukhashevsky, Yakir, Uborevich, Kork, and Eidemann.  I have little doubt the evidence would demonstrate their guilt and that of many others regarding espionage and treason and all but eviscerate accusations to the effect that Stalin and his allies stupidly wiped out their best military leaders prior to WWII.  No general, regardless of his talents, is serving the Soviet Union while working in collusion with Nazi Germany or other reactionary forces.  At the very beginning of this book in particular we find on Page ix the following comment with respect to information regarding the post-WWII trial for treason of those in the Jewish Anti-fascist Committee.

                “Vladimir Naumov [one of the authors] began working on the Doctor's Plot in 1992, having approached it through his work on the Commission for the Rehabilitation of Repressed Persons in the late 1980s.  As part of the commission's work, he studied the 1952 trial of the Jewish Antifascist Committee and soon discovered that nobody had examined the details of this extraordinary case before.  He read the entire case--42 volumes of documents including eight or nine additional volumes.” 

                Wouldn’t I love to get my hands on that material IN ENGLISH as no doubt would others concerned with revealing the truth.  If all he could find denigrating Stalin from those volumes is in this book, one can only imagine how much exists to the contrary.
                In addition, I noticed the capitalists are not anxious to translate into English the last 3/4’s of Chuev’s interview with Molotov.  I have been told by a reliable source that the interview encompasses 7,000 pages and barely 2,500 have been translated.  I wonder why?
                Also any search for the Second Volume of Mikoyan’s Memoirs is fruitless.  I contacted the publisher of the first volume and only received evasive answers as to why it never saw the light of day.  For some reason I concluded CIA agents and/or other capitalist organs read a draft of the second volume before it was to be published and said “Forget it.”
                And I can’t help but notice that the fat cats and their translators are not anxious to make Chuev’s interview with Kaganovich available in English either.
                All this juicy material is extant, yet the capitalists just don’t think it deserves exposure to the limelight of the world’s perusal.  It does not require a Ph.D. in International Politics and Propaganda to fathom why.
