If there is one trend of thought that needs to be abolished in North Korea with all due haste it is the idea of unification with South Korea.  From a Marxist-Leninist perspective that is out-of-the-question and any North Korean official who even hints that the idea has promise should be removed with celerity or, at the very least, demoted dramatically.  The smell of a menshevik traitor would be unmistakable.  Let’s don’t kid ourselves.  Reunification would be nothing more than a euphemism for surrender, a socialist defeat, because the politico-economic system that would then prevail throughout the peninsula would be capitalism.  The financial power of the world’s capitalists would see to that.  The truth of the matter is that to portray such an act as a “unification” of equals would be a joke, a farce.  All that would  occur would be the simple swallowing up of the North by the South, a repeat of the German tragedy.  The “unification” that would occur would be analogous to that which occurs when a frog is persuaded to allow himself to be swallowed by a snake.  Of course, someone forgot to tell the frog that he will be changed drastically in the process.  To put it mildly he will no longer be himself.
         With such prominence given to the Juche idea in the North I fear for the worst and have STRONG RESERVATIONS REGARDING THE ABILITY OR WILLINGNESS of Kim Jong Il to follow in the footsteps of his father, Kim Il Sung.  Try as I may I can’t help but see Gorby smiling in the wings.
