FASCISM IN US

Not long ago I called a national talk show and made some political comments for which the liberal host no longer
allows me to speak on his program.  Essentially, I stated the following, although some additions are included.
"I don't think the American people realize they are being bathed in a sea of well-financed fascist propaganda.
And nowhere is this more evident than with respect to prominent radio talk shows.  Rush Limbaugh, G. Gordon Liddy,
Pat Buchanan and their ilk are nothing more than facist mouthpieces masquerading as purveyors of freedom and
democracy.  They are spouting the same trash that mesmerized and hypnotized the Europeans throughout the
1920's and 1930's.  It's the same claptrap but tailored, manicured, and prettyfied for an American audience.  Any
listener who doubts the truth of what I am saying need only go to Europe and talk to some people in genuine, bona
fide, fascist parties.  Go down to Spain and talk to a group known as the phalangists.  That's Franco's old outfit.  Get
their views on virtually every major issue under the sun.  Then go to Italy and talk to some people in what is known as
the Social Movement.  They still think Mussolini is the greatest.  Recently his grandaughter was almost elected mayor
of Naples.  Then go to Germany and converse with people in the NDP, a crypto-Nazi organization that represents
nothing more than a rejuvenation of Germany in the 1930's.  As far as its members are concerned the only mistake
Hitler ever made was losing the war.  And while you are at it you might as well go over to France and talk with the old
Vichyites of Petain and Laval who still think Hitler and Mussolini had put it all together.  After you finish this
informative journey, return to the United States and show me where there is a dimes worth of difference between
what they are saying and that which is emanating from the likes of Limbaugh, Liddy, Buchanan, and Paul Harvey.
A tremendous amount of time and money has been employed to give people a wholly erroneous conception of
what fascism really entails.  When most Americans hear the word fascist, they think of Mussolini standing out on a
balcony before a large crowd sticking out his chest and chin like some bozo on championship wrestling.  But that is
nothing more than a caricature perpetuated by Hollywood movies and newsreels carefully nurtured and funded by
capitalist propaganda agencies to give people the impression that fascism is not to be taken seriously, is way outside
the political mainstream, and wouldn't be considered by any reasonably rational individual.  Nothing could be further
from the truth, because no country in the world has a stronger fascist movement than the United States and
nowhere is this more evident than with respect to radio talk shows.  Imagine what it costs to put a talk show like
Buchanan's on hundreds of stations during prime time with an 800 number!  Some member or members of the ruling
class are paying large sums for mass indoctrination and if surveys didn't prove they were getting their monies worth
you can bet they would place their ill gotten gains elsewhere."
For that short synopsis of current affairs I am now censored off the air.  I suspect a lawyer or someone else
representing one of the national prime-time radio talk show hosts phoned my liberal host and threatened him with
legal action if I were allowed a repeat appearance to expand my observations.  Every time I call in now, the woman
taking the calls recognizes my voice and the line goes dead.  Most assuredly I do have more to say, especially with
reference to the derogatory comments subsequent callers made regarding my commentary.  Most accused me of
being stupid and far out and only succeeded in showing how little they know about the topic in general.  But one caller
did try to make a case and for that he deserves a reply.  My benighted critic called in and laid out an entire philosophy

packed with misconceptions in just once sentence.  He said, "Limbaugh is not a fascist because he promotes individual

freedom and democracy rather than dictorial governmental control."  Wrong!  Wrong!  Wrong!  Few beliefs have
caused more people to disconnect from political reality than this one.  In one fell swoop, in one all-encompassing
sentence, that caller showed himself to be the victim of one of the most important capitalist propaganda deceptions
of the modern era.  Literally billions of dollars have been spent on everything from high school and college textbooks
to periodicals and the media to convince people to believe that those labeling themselves political conservatives are
defenders of liberty and miles from fascism.  In point of fact, I have never talked to a fascist in my life, and I have
conversed with far too many of them, who didn't have the words freedom, liberty, and democracy dripping from his
lips at all times.  Everything fascists say and do is supposedly for the purpose of defending freedom and democracy,
up to and including when they put you in prison or in front of a wall.
The major mistake made by my detractor arises from the fact that his knowledge of history is sadly deficient.
Suppose the following were to happen.  Suppose communists and others with a Marxist orientation starting winning
elections.  Suppose they started being elected as mayors, state legislators, governors, and even senators and
congresspersons in this nation.  Suppose the number of left-wing electoral victories accelerated rapidly.  What would
the Limbaughs, Liddys and Buchanans say in response?  I can tell you exactly what their line would be.  Sooner or later

they would turn to the American people and say, "Wait a minute.  Democracy is not a suicide pact.  When democracy
allows people to be elected who would destroy democracy (of course they mean bourgeois democracy as defined by
Lenin), then it's time to take action."  They wouldn't reveal, of course, that in practical terms their changes would
mean the suspension of civil rights and liberties and the steady eradication of opposition voices.  They wouldn't care
what the American people wanted.  As far as the ruling class and its vociferous flunkeys are concerned, the people
would have proven they don't know what is best for their own good.  "This is how it's going to be" would become the
rule of thumb.  The facade would be discarded and the populace would see the Limbaughs and his breed for what they
really are.  As of now the crypto-fascists have had little difficulty maintaining their charade, but as economic
conditions continue to deteriorate the future portends something far more sinister and revealing.  People forget that

Italy in the early 1920's and Germany in the early 1930's had very strong Marxist movements that were experiencing
one electoral victory after another.  In both countries the ruling class became alarmed and bankrolled the ascendancy

of those who felt the time had come to jettison the democratic pretense.  In recent years the same ritual has been
played out in country after country.  Chile, South Vietnam, Greece, Brazil, Zaire, Iran, and Guatemala are only a few
of many countries in which the ruling class has adopted fascism in order to orestall a "leftist takeover".  People often

say that patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.  An even more accurate description of current world conditions
is that fascism is the last refuge of a capitalist.
