I can't think of any aspect of the world's
Left that aggravates me more than the degree to which far too many members
thereof willingly and, indeed, speedily jumped on the anti-Stalin vendetta
which was initiated primarily by Khrushchov at the Feb. 1956 20th Party
Congress. A significant supply of facts and evidence to support this
campaign has been noticeably absent from the outset; yet far too many have
imbibed the accusations and vilifications of anti-Stalin mouthpieces without
demanding substantive information and corroboration. A large number
within the Left have been content to take the Khrushchovites and their
subsequent henchmen at their word without requiring a thorough accounting
of every charge, all of which has led to one of the most egregious transgressions
of justice and legality ever foisted upon the working class.
Class conflict within the United States
has evolved to the point where political divisions between liberals and
rightists have become ascerbic and quite pronounced, and no doubt they
will continue to exacerbate as wealth differentials grow. The number
of lies, distortions, innuendoes, rumors, and slanders being leveled toward
one another by those involved escalates with ever greater vigor.
Now, if the two main factions within the US have no compunction or hesitation
about twisting, distorting and perverting the record of their fellow property
owners, is it any wonder that when it comes to an extremely effective opponent
of capitalism like Stalin no restraints would exist and lying propaganda
would reign supreme. For all practical purposes all bets are off
and anything goes. There are no limitations or parameters.
I would think the world’s Left could see that obvious fact but many appear
totally oblivious to its presence. That is truly pathetic.
Simply put, if the bourgeoisie will
lie about and slander one another, is it any wonder the presentation concocted
by capitalist agents of Soviet history in general and Stalin in particular
has virtually no relevance to truth and reeks with unreality.
