Metroid
Intro- This game, the beggining of the Metroid series, is fun but not if you're used to the more modern 'Metoid Fusion' type of game. The thing is, the graphics, music, gameplay, etc. is much different than it is today in Metroid. Also, you spend the whole game walking around in unknown areas, with nothing to guide you, not even a blank map.

Graphics-7/10
-This was pretty good for an 8-bit system, but nothing to compared to todays games. The backround is completely blank (black). Samus' suit  is extremely clunky, and the enemies are pixely and it's hard to tell where their arms are or if they're really legs. but they're detailed in color anyway, and the graphics definetely give you the feeling of insecurity, and it's eerie.

ISound-6/10- There's the standard metroid sounds--door bubble opening/closing, morph ball, shooting, etc. That's pretty good, but nothing amazing. Then there are the few themes in the game that determine a mood of adventure. There's the main Metroid theme in the whole game, which is nothing special, but it's cool to see how it all started.

Gameplay-8/10- This varies on the player. Many people will pick up the controller and chuck it after five minutes, because they don't like the uncertainty of the game and are used to getting directions from Fusion and other recent Metroid games. Others will play for hours on end, because they love that there's nothing to stop you from going anywhere anytime or to tell you where to go. In my opinion, it's pretty fun, so I'll give it an 8/10.

Controls-6/10- This is another so-so thing. The controller does respond to everything well, but Samus has pretty slow movements, and sometimes the graphics seem to be going really slow in times with many enemies around you, which can be pretty annoying. But it's pretty easy to switch from weapon to weapon.

Replay Value-9/10- Again, this varies on the player. The people who enjoyed that there was no direction in this game will like this very much, because now you can try to take another way first, skip some weapons, or maybe try to get them all, etc. But the player who likes the Fusion style will probably not even play it through completely once, so there's no way they can replay it.

Overall-7.2/10- There's not much to be said left here. If you're dying to get this game, go ahead and buy it off of Ebay or at Game?Stop hoping for a good price. But, if you're opinion is iffy, don't spend more than 5 or 10 dollars on it. If you don't want it, but you find it at a garage sale for 50 cents, just get it anyway to build up your collection.
