Graphics-6/10- The graphics on this game were very colorful, but were very pixely. I guess that you can't expect much, considering this was the first mario game, but they could have been better.
Sound/Music-7/10- The music is very upbeat, but there are only a few different tunes during the whole game. After a while the music and sounds become boring and repetitive, and make you want to turn down the volume on the TV.
Gameplay-6/10- This game is good for people who just picked up the NES, it's very simple and easy. If you play with two people, you usually have a lot more fun, racing against each other to get to the end.
Control-8/10- Within one course, you can get the basic control down. You don't have any kind of special techniques besides jumping, running, and 'fireball'ing, which can all be used easily.
Replay Value-7/10- This game keeps you trying over and over until you reach the end of the game, but can get very frustrating at times, at which point you might not pick up the game for another few months.
Overall- 6.8/10- If you are a beginner at the NES, I suggest you go over to the GameStop and buy this. If you don't like it, well, 30 cents isn't much of a loss. Also, you may want to look for a cartridge with Mario and another game, just to get as much use out of 30 cents as you can. |
