Human Impact on Environment

We humans now dominate the earth more than any other species has ever done - and now our earth is in grave danger of suffering irreparable harm from all our activities. Our demands on its fragile resources are threatening everything from atmosphere to plant, animal and plant life. The root of all these problems lie in the greed of man for more and more wealth which human nature is never satisfied of. Next is the conception of energy and other resources. Many people feel that unless we cure ourselves of this need to consume we will all be extinct. Pollution is killing many animals today. As rivers become polluted, fishes are poisoned. Many die. Birds that eat poisoned fishes cannot lay strong, healthy eggs. New birds aren't born. Thus the food chain is affected. In the industrialised world, toxic wastes from factories and untreated raw sewage flow into rivers and seas. Huge spills of oil from oil tankers also do great damages to sea birds and other creatures. If each one of us in our own simple way help, it will do a lot of good to nature. Never throw garbage, especially plastic bags into water bodies. Dolphins, whales, turtles are all endangered and even though many voluntary organisations work for them, they are still slaughtered mercilessly for their meat and their by-products. People never think what they are doing in their mad rush for power and wealth. Do we ever stop to think that if we go on like this, in the near future we will also be fossil remains waiting for millions of years to be discovered?
It is never too late to work together for a better tomorrow.
