The Toad Who Would be Prince | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Yet again, more recapping. Yay. We'll just skip that part. Kagome's swimming around and relaxing, saying how wonderful this time is. (this time in a bathing suit, I guess after Inu caught her naked last time, she decided this would be better.) Inuyasha's complaining to Myouga about how they'd been traveling for three days, due to Myouga's advice, in order to find more jewel shards, with no luck. But Myouga's not paying much attention, as he's watching Kagome. Myouga decides to "go check on her", and Inuyasha warns him not to, only to stop mid-sentence as a flash of white passes him, heading towards Kagome. Inuyasha leaps after it, and runs past Myouga, who can't help but think that Inu's trying to see Kagome, as well. Kagome turns around and screams, scaring Inuyasha (yes, scaring. Last time he got sat, remember?) He tells her that it's not what she thinks, and she points out a flash of white making off with her clothes. Inuyasha hears someone whistling, and follows the sound to where a boy is going through Kagome's clothes, trying to find something to eat, a white monkey nearby. When he takes out a sword and says that the two are suspicious, Inuyasha merely stops him with a foot to the head. And no, I don't mean kicking him. The boy was apparently starving, as he's eating the potato chips Kagome gave him like there's no tomorrow. Kagome and Inuyasha argue about the importance of the items in her bag. When he finishes eating, the boy thanks Kagome, who introduces him to everyone. Needless to say, he's kinda confused. Kagome asks if the boy's a nobleman, but all he'll say is that his name's Nobunaga. Of course, Kagome mistakes him for an important historcial figure, begging for his autograph, only to find out that it's not the Nobunaga she thought he was. He starts to walk off, claiming to have an important mission. Inuyasha tries to warn the boy not to go that way, only to be cut off by the boy's groan after falling off the small cliff he was on. In a village, girls are being led away to a castle that the villagers claim no woman has ever returned from. Nobunaga appears in the forest, saying that the rumors he heard were true, while Inuyasha is asking Kagome why they followed him. He's really against the whole thing until he overhears a villager say that the nobleman in the castle could possibly be possessed by a demon. NOW Inu's interested. It may very well be true, for in the castle, we see only 2 people. A lovely young woman, and a disfigured man covered in bandages. He calls her his princess, and she asks him where the other young women are. He throws a hissy fit, telling her never to ask him again. She apologizes, and he walks off, still grumbling. That night, Nobunaga shows them the castle, where Inuyasha says he can smell a demon, and bets that it has a jewel shard. He kneels down and tells Kagome to jump on, only to end up with TWO passengers. Well, 3 if you count the monkey on Nobunaga's shoulder. They jump over the wall and notice how everyone seems to be sleeping. Myouga says it's a hypnotic sleep, and to be careful. Of course, Nobunaga runs off, calling for the Princess, Tsuyu. Sure enough, EVERYONE's asleep. Nobunaga keeps opening doors, looking for the princess, declaring he's there to save her, while Inuyasha and Kagome debate on whether or not they should hush him up. He finally enters a room and finds an old woman. He begins to cry, thinking it's the princess, only to be interrupted by Kagome, who had found the real princess, also asleep. Myouga, more than happy when they say "princess", leaps down and sucks her blood, saying that it's the perfect way to wake her up. Sure enough, she wakes up. And slaps him. When the Princess recognizes Nobunaga, he's all excited and blushing. But when she starts talking about all the clumsy things he's done, he starts to become embarrassed. Kagome tells Inuyasha she thinks Nobunaga is in love with the princess. "Huh. Pathetic." The Princess tells them how her 'Lord Husband' had changed since she arrived. She said he fell into the pond one day, and was sick afterwards. Then it was like he became a different person. Nobunaga tells her that her father sent him to rescue her, and that he'd have come on his own anyway. "Nobunaga?" "Yes, my princess, I'm listening...?" "There's a monkey on your head." (crying) "yes, princess." Inuyasha hears the demon approaching, and goes out to meet it with Kagome. Inuyasha slices away the bandages covering his face, and reveals the nobleman to be a TOAD! The shock's too much for the princess, who faints. Right into Nobunaga's arms. Kagome tells Inuyasha she saw a shard, and Myouga claims that that's the 99th toad of the 99th generation, and stronger than he looks. Inuyasha brushes it off and lunges, only to be stopped by toxic fumes, emitted from the toad. The demon walks past Inuyasha and goes to Nobunaga, telling him to give back the princess. Nobunaga refuses and draws his sword, only to be stabbed in the shoulder by the toad's tongue. The toad grabs the princess and breaks through the wall, leaving Kagome and others behind. Kagome asks Nobunaga if he's in love with the princess, only to learn that he thought it was a secret. Inuyasha runs after the toad, only to find him in a room full of blue spheres, each holding a woman, and one holding the princess! Kagome arrives, supporting Nobunaga, only to be told by Myouga that the rumors were true that the toad kept women in the egg sacs like toad spawn, until their souls ripened and were eaten. Inuyasha attacks the toad with Tetsusaiga, wounding him, but the toad then says one of the funniest cliche' lines ever. "I don't wanna die. Come to me! Souls! Souls! I need souls!" At which point, the womans' souls leave the egg sacs and are swallowed by the toad, healing him. He starts taunting Inuyasha, but stops when Nobunaga frees Princess Tsuyu and is hugged by her. He goes fight them, but Inuyasha slams the Tetsusaiga (the flat part of the blade, sorry guys) on the toad's head, knocking him out. This blow also causes the toad's mind to back away, and we hear the actual nobleman speaking, asking what he had done. When he realizes what had happened, he begs for Inuyasha to kill him. Inu agrees, but Kagome and Nobunaga tells him not to, saying that since the real lord is inside, he'd be killing an innocent man. Inuyasha finally agrees and puts away Tetsusaiga, saying that it's Nobunaga's responsibilty now. But the toad is back in control of his body, and laughs at them, thanking them before attacking them again. Kagome takes the princess and runs like Nobunaga tells her when Inuyasha declares that he'll only help if he gets to kill the toad. After they run, and the toad follows, Inu asks if he can kill him yet. Nobunaga refuses. Myouga tells the fleeing Kagome to use hot water to distract the toad, so that the lord can come out, and a now-annoyed Kagome asks where she's supposed to GET the hot water. The toad starts to catch up to them, and Kagome asks the princess if there's a torch nearby. She has no clue, but Nobunaga's monkey, which somehow appeared on the princess's shoulder, leaps off ahead of them. The princess trips and falls, and Kagome begins to worry until the monkey returns, with a small flame in a bowl. Kagome worries about the size of the flame, but as she's distracted, the toad attacks her, knocking her over with his tongue. When she falls, though, things begin to fall out of her backpack, one being a can of hairspray. Of course, now that he's laughing and attacking Kagome, Inuyasha appears with the transformed Tetsusaiga, ready to fight. He apologizes Kagome for not being able to be merciful, saying that it's a luxury they don't have. But this causes Kagome to remember her own luxury item. Her hairspray. Inuyasha attacks, but Kagome tells him to sit. The moment he hits the ground, Kagome uses the hairspray and flame as a flame-thrower, aiming it towards the toad. This causes the toad's demon part to leave the human (so basically, she exorcises the demon with a flame). Kagome tells Inuyasha to get the jewel, and he attacks the fleeing demon, destroying him with one hit and catching the jewel shard that fell from him. Nobunaga appears, thanking (and scaring) Inuyasha. Inuyasha starts to protest, but Kagome says just to let the boy believe it. Now the princess stands and starts running in Nobunaga's direction, calling his name. He turns and holds his arms open, expecting a hug, apparently, but she runs to her husband, thanking Nobunaga for saving her lord. Later on, Kagome is trying to cheer up a silent and distant Nobunaga, but Inuyasha tells him he's an 'igit' for saving the life of his only romantic rival. Nobunaga finally laughs, and agrees with Inuyasha, calling himself the world's biggest fool. Inuyasha tells him that he's still an igit, but he saved a lot of lives, and not to beat himself up. "There are plenty o' others that'll do that for you." A now cheered-up Nobunaga starts to walk away, not hearing Kagome's and Inuyasha's protests, and ends up falling down yet another small cliff. |
