Seekers of the Sacred Jewel | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Inuyasha stands, waiting for Kagome to hand over the jewel, or else. He starts to attack Kagome, but she tries to run away. The villagers try to stop him, but he merely laughs at them and chases after Kagome. Kaede sighs, saying she somehow expected this, and uses her powers to magically place a rosary around Inuyasha's neck, who's busy pursuing and attacking (yet missing) Kagome. While Inuyasha is trying to figure out what the necklace is, Kagome takes the jewel and tries to run away again. Kaede tells her to pick a word to use to subjugate Inuyasha, and hold his spirit. When Kagome falls down a small cliff and drops the Shikon no Tama, Inuyasha mocks her, asking how she could overpower him when she can't even stand. He jumps onto the middle of a bridge, directly in front of the rolling jewel's path, and moves to pick it up. Kagome notices his dog ears again as they twitch, and immediately decides which word to use. "Sit, boy!" Inuyasha is slammed face-first into the bridge. He sits up and tries to pull off the necklace, but Kaede informs him that not even he is powerful enough to remove it. He threatens Kaede, but Kagome says "sit" again, and Inuyasha slams through the bridge into the water below. Kagome collects the jewel and goes with Kaede back to the village. The next morning, Kaede is putting the finishing touches on Kagome's bandages. She warns Kagome that now that the jewel has reappeared, both humans and demons alike will be after it. Kagome looks over at a brooding Inuyasha and asks why he's still there. He says he's waiting for the jewel, and goes back to his brooding. Kagome tells him she thinks he's powerful enough, and asks what the jewel could give him he doesn't already have. Kaede explains that Inuyasha is only half demon, which angers Inuyasha, who says he's tired of hearing her talk about him like she knows him. She points out that she is Kikyo's younger sister, and that it is now 50 years later. He's surprised, and muses that Kikyo must be much older, and how he's glad he doesn't have to worry about getting old for a while. Kaede informs him that Kikyo died the day he was pinned to the tree. He shrugs it off, saying that it's one less thing for him to worry about. Kaede then informs him of her belief that Kagome is, in fact, Kikyo's reincarnation, and that the Shikon jewel being inside her body proves it. Kagome's later walking through the village, thinking to herself. The villagers are watching her, talking amongst themselves about how she's really Lady Kikyo. She looks up to see all of them bowing to her, and she nervously runs off, feeling the need to go home. Inuyasha is sitting in a tree, thinking about what happened, how Kikyo died, and how he "never knew..." His thoughts are interrupted by Kagome, who arrives carrying loads of food, and invites Inuyasha to join her in a meal. Inuyasha is certain she's up to something, and when she asks if they can call a truce, he laughs, saying he's only after the jewel, and that she can't lure him into a "false sense of security". She muses how all she has to do to make him obey is say "sit", which results in him falling out of his tree. She smiles and apologizes, but you know she doesn't mean it. That night as she's falling asleep, Kagome tells herself that she really needs to get home, since her family is probably worrying about her. Outside, a tree is covered with crows, and one has 3 eyes. It looks through the ceiling and Kagome's blanket at the Shikon jewel she's wearing around her neck, but is chased off by Inuyasha. The next morning, Kagome walks to the woods, thinking that she came out of the well, so it may hold a way to send her back home. Kaede tells the villagers that Kagome is gone, and that she wishes she had warned Kagome better about the people who wanted the Shikon jewel. Inuyasha listens in and goes in search of Kagome, wanting to get the jewel before someone else does. Kagome finally comes in sight of the well, but is attacked by a group of men who take her to a run-down hut. The men's "Boss" goes to swing at Kagome with his sword, but ends up hitting his own men, causing them to panic and run, Kagome with them. He keeps coming after them, demanding the jewel, so Kagome, in hopes of distracting the Boss and getting away, throws the jewel out the window. The boss attacks again, and the men run off, leaving Kagome in front of the Boss, but as he swings at her, Inuyasha breaks through the door and jumps in front of the sword, which breaks upon contact with his clothes. He easily defeats the Boss, whose front chestplate falls off, revealing the 3-eyed crow nested in a hole in his chest. Inuyasha forces the bird out, but refuses to chase after it. He pulls Kagome out of the hut, asking where the jewel is, then sees the crow flying away with the jewel in it's beak. Inuyasha grabs a bow and arrows for Kagome, and throws her onto his back, running after the crow. He insists that Kikyo was a master archer, so Kagome should be. Kagome fires, but misses. Inuyasha falls, and calls Kagome a klutz. She tries and misses again, so Inuyasha dumps her, yells that she is NOT Kikyo, and runs off, leaving her there. The crow, who by now has swallowed the jewel, kidnaps a boy and carries him away. Kagome yells for Inuyasha to save the boy first, but he ignores her and attacks the crow, cutting it into pieces. The pieces fall into the river with the boy, and Kagome jumps into the water to get the child, while Inuyasha desperately searches for the jewel. She pulls the boy to shore while Inuyasha yells at her to "get the jewel, stupid!". The crow comes back together using the powers of the Shikon jewel, and begins to fly off. Kagome finds that one of the crow's feet is still attached to the boy, and so borrows a bow and ties the foot to the arrow, knowing the power will be calling the foot to the crow, and therefore, the arrow. The arrow hits, alright, but when it does, it hits the jewel, causing it to shatter! Pieces begin to fly away, towards other parts of the country. Kagome and Inuyasha goes to look for the crow's remains, hoping to find the jewel, and Kagome's worrying about the bright lights she saw when the arrow hit. The crow's head attacks Kagome, but Inuyasha slashes it apart, revealing a single shard of the Shikon no Tama. When Kagome tells him what it is, he is NOT a happy camper. |
