Cirra is a
1996 Red Dun Kiger mare.
Cirra was adopted from the wild as a weanling.
I purchased her in 2000 from her original adopters.

Here's
Cirra as a weanling.
This picture was taken at the Burns corral at the 1996 Kiger
adoption.
(Thanks Kim Kellogg for the picture!)
My
experience with Diva was so much fun I decided I couldn't have
just one Kiger. I was still bummed I hadn't been able to
adopt a wild one myself in the 1999 adoption and literally
stumbled across an internet ad listing for Cirra.
Here
are pictures of Cirra when I went to look at her in early 2000.
The field she was in was pretty muddy at the time (typical
of Northwest winters) so you can't see her white socks.

Cirra
is also a quick learner and has a very sweet nature.
She's very curious
and between her and Diva it's always an adventure getting any work
done in the field. There are always horse noses supervising
all activity from fence mending to poop scooping.
Favorite tricks are
to tip the wheelbarrow over or take the broom/manure fork and bean
the other with it, and to pull on anything sticking out of my back
pockets.
Since
my hands were still pretty full training Diva, I decided to breed
Cirra to My Kiger
Tiger, a Kiger stallion that I really liked and wanted a foal
by.
Here's Cirra in late
June looking like a pea ready to pop! Due date 7/10/01.
Cirra
surprised me by foaling almost a week early.
But she had everything under control (she knew I was a worry wart
and decided to just have it over with) by the time I arrived at
the barn.
Diva was on guard duty watching over the both of them.
Cirra
is being a great mom, and I guess she did me a favor. So
even though I missed the actual event, I was spared the horror of
sleeping in the barn with spiders and other assorted creepy
crawlers.

Congratulations Bill and Michelle on the purchase of Cirra, and her new job as Bill's trail horse. I hope you will have many happy miles together.
