SCHOOL OF TOMORROW PROGRAMME

The School of Tomorrow Programme does not only introduce computer education to schools but synergises with and adds value to the schools' efforts at providing holistic education.

I.T. Kids made the African entry in Nairobi, Kenya on 15th July 2000, when the Kenyan center was inaugurated. This center enrolled 100 students in the first 10 days. More than 50 schools; Kindergarten, primary, secondary and special schools, have signed up for the "School of Tomorrow" programme. There are more than 300 schools that have applied for I.T. Kids "School of Tomorrow programme" in Kenya and another 120 in Uganda.

TECHNOLOGICAL FOCUS

The students get an early start in key technologies: Operating Environment, Word Processing, Graphics, Spreadsheets, Databases, Multimedia & Animation and Programming languages. The technology increases with each class level and is smoothly integrated with the school's syllabus. More importantly, the technological content is demystified: made more child friendly through challenging and rewarding experiences.

ACADEMIC FOCUS

School subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science and GHC are integrated with computer skills in form of simple exercises. Each lesson has a different academic project that is in tune with what the child learns in class. Slow learners benefit from the reinforcement and get to see regular lessons in a new perspective. Fast learners get to develop their skills and expand their skill base with challenging assignments and special projects.
VALUE EDUCATION

The Programme is strongly founded on value systems that cater to the personality development requirement of children in the growing years. Ethics and virtues such as cleanliness, kindness to animals, teamwork, honesty and appreciation to nature are given as much importance as the Technological and Academic aspects.

LESSON PLAN

Each lesson is structured in three portions:

• Basic Skill activity: fun filled and educational
• Thematic activity: Alphabets, numbers and rhymes are integrated with computer skills in the form of simple exercise. Each lesson has a different academic content.
• Value education: Sharing and Caring, cleanliness, love for animals and nature are discussed.
