The Story:

This page is dedicated to the both of us and is by both of us...

How We Met:

We met through the Webring we are both involved in... But this is a story I will let her tell (she is a much better writer than me) All I can say at this moment is I am glad we did. By the way our anniversary the day we realized we loved each other is June 22, 2000.

Kevin and I met because I had an armadillo. I always knew it paid to have friends in "low places"! He hasn't met my armadillo yet but I'm sure that'll be one day in the near future. Maybe the beginning of our story would be a good place to start...

I joined Web Dreamers back when it was barely off the ground. A friend told me about a great new webring that was beginning and how much fun it was going to be. At that time, I wasn't sure how much more "fun" I could pack into my already busy schedule but I decided to check things out. It was a participatory webring, meaning everyone had a job to do within the ring. "Oh, great!" I groaned to my friend, "Just what I need. Something else to occupy my already packed agenda." But I figured that if I liked the group I could live with an hour less sleep each night. So, I joined. I'm curious by nature so my first activity was to visit the websites of all the members. Members were being added at the rate of 5 or 6 a day so that task began to grow monumental. I found some wonderful people within the ring and began adding a few of them to my ICQ list. Remember that hour of sleep I was losing each night? Well, it suddenly became two hours.

On one of those first nights within the ring, I discovered Kevin's Hunting and Fishing Page. "Oh boy, what a big thrill reading this site would be", I laughed. But this was a well constructed, interesting site with some good photos. I also discovered that he was the brother of someone I'd met previously within the ring, a charming man named Kim with a great sense of humor with whom I'd already had a handful of great chats. Maybe this "Kevin person" would be a nice guy to know! So, when I signed his guestbook, I made a reference to the fact that I had an armadillo digging holes on my property and asked if I could afford his hunting and scouting expertise. He in turn made the perfunctory visit to my website on 5/7/2000 and left a simple message in my guestbook...."Very nice page...I will be back." "HA HA...little did HE know!!!" I answered his message with a short email and he replied, I wrote back, but neither of us continued the correspondence after that.

I joined the Welcoming Team because it seemed the most logical place for me and it proved to be a wise decision. I added Kevin to my ICQ list because, as it turned out, he'd just taken over leadership of the team. I sped through my guestbook signing duties each night so I could share a few messages with him before heading off to slumberville. The man impressed me from the beginning. Not only was he interesting to chat with, he could multi-task better than anyone I'd never met! He also had the cutest habit of ending the conversation with a little *poof* at the bottom of his last message. I'm a sucker for sweetness. I was hooked.

Soon it became obvious to the both of us that we were online at night to talk with one another rather than share our comments about the guestbooks. I made the first long distance telephone call and he reciprocated the next week. Conversations were easy and the minutes flew too quickly. We moved to FireTalk and, when high speed access became available in his area, we discovered PC to telephone service.

She Said:

It's been a wonderful challenge to learn all about his likes and dislikes. We live worlds apart geographically. He's Canadian and lives in Alberta where more snow falls in one day than I've seen in my lifetime. I'm a southern lady from bayou country where a chilly day is when the thermometer reads 65 degrees and it's not uncommon for summer temperatures to peak at 100 degrees or higher. Canadians do things backwards, too. They're trying to convince people from the lower 49 states of North America that we need to convert to metric. NO WAY! Thankfully Kevin can think in both forms of measurement. He loves his TV and it plays constantly while he's home. I know what a TV looks like but if a show isn't on the local news or my favorite computer network...TOUGH! He's a hunter while I eat very little meat. He loves to fish but won't eat anything he catches. I love fish or anything that comes from the water. I love to dance while he thinks he MAY be able to move his hips in time with the music. We shall see. He designs and builds houses.......I own a parcel of beautiful land here in the country of southern Mississippi with a huge pecan tree that would be perfect for a garden swing. *Ü*

We have more differences than we have similarities but I think it's the mutual caring and respect we have for one another that holds us together. For now, I'm just concentrating on getting to know this wonderful man who makes me sing when I'm sad and laugh when I feel tears well in my eyes. He's strength beyond belief, a source of confidence and tenacity, yet he knows just when to be weak enough to allow me the privilege of comforting him.

I love you, Kevin.

He Said:

I think you said it all sweetie!!! I could not have said it better myself!!!

I can say that even though we have not met in person, yet, I enjoy every minute we get to spend on ICQ, Firetalk & the Phone.  I can never wait until she comes online & we can begin our nightly conversations!!!!!

I love you too, Andrea
