Weight Loss Tips and Tricks

Ok, first of all, you have to understand that losing weight is not going to go at the pace of the Indy 500! In other words, it's a process. Healthy weight loss should be no more than two pounds a week. Any more than that and you are losing muscle along with the fat and believe me, you DO NOT want to be doing that. Now then, here are some tips and tricks for weight loss that I hope will be helpful to you.

WEIGHT LOSS TIPS


  1. Cut out sodas and alcohol. I know, I know, but it really will help you lose weight.

  2. Use a food journal. Write down EVERYTHING you eat. Once you've done that, you can see what to cut down.

  3. Eat within an hour of waking up. If you have trouble eating in the morning, have a piece of fruit and/or some yogurt. You need to eat something to get your metabolism going in the morning.

  4. Eat vegetables. They can be filling and don't have a lot of calories in them. Have a big salad for lunch.

  5. Eat off of small plates. This is psychological and it really does work. Your brain can get tricked into thinking you have had a lot to eat when it registers how full the plate is.

  6. Eat slowly. Seriously, this will help you. It takes your stomach about 20 minutes to let your brain know you are full. If you are scarfing down your food, you aren't giving your stomach the time it needs to register to your brain that you have eaten and you are full. Therefore, you will think you're still hungry when you're not.

  7. DRINK WATER. I cannot emphasize this enough. Aim for 80 ounces a day of pure water, not colas, teas, etc. You'll be surprised at how it helps not only with weight loss, but also with the appearance of your skin and how much better you feel generally.

  8. Eat an apple before the three major meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Studies have shown apple eating before those meals can help you lose weight.

  9. Have three servings of dairy daily in the form of skim milk, low-fat cheese, or yogurt. Again, studies show that those three servings can be a help in weight loss efforts. Check out this website for more info on that: Three a day.
