Ethical Questionnaire

Ethical questionnaires, along with job history, are essential in the hiring process. They will provide Hiring Managers with an idea of the prospective employee, and of course distinguish one prospective employee from another. An ethical questionnaire will distinguish more favorable candidates from one another, especially among those that have similar work experiences and skills. Basic employment requirements such as the resume, cover sheet, and application do not show the hiring manager where the person stand morally, how he or she thinks, acts, or feels when certain situations involving morals arise.

The purpose of a questionnaire could possibly even be a deciding factor for a person, both as an employer and employee. It is necessary also in places where inventory and merchandise are kept a close eye on. Internal theft could be an issue that a company is dealing with, and hiring someone that answers “no” to a question asking if they would tell on a co-worker caught stealing would not be a wise move for these types of firms.

Ethical questionnaires are necessary, not just to rate one’s ethics about personal and business issues, but also to give employees an idea of situations that might possibly happen. Just putting tricky events into one’s head is a positive because that way, the person taking the ethical questionnaire has the opportunity to think over what they would do. Then whenever a similar dilemma occurs, then the person will at least have the comfort of knowing that this is not anything new to them; and they have  a better idea of what is the proper thing to do since they have already thought over the situation, or one similar like it, before. A decision will not take as long for the person to make, nor will it be as great a source of stress for that person.

Taking this ethical questionaire have showed myself that I would bend certain rules in certain situation, but will not break the law. I am ethical, yet I am willing to go beyond certain steps to make my company prosper. Yet, I am not willing to cover up or let go of any mistakes, no matter how small, that will damage the company in any way.
