Description of the area I am modeling.

Route of the Chessie System

Pittsburgh-West

Pittsburgh-East

The layout will cover the Chessie System Railroad on the old Baltimore & Ohio line from Pittsburgh to Cumberland set in the late 70's - early 80's. The actual mileage between the two cities by rail is 151 miles. I will fit that in 180 feet which is approximately three scale miles. I could not fit everything in of course, but I was able to allow for every tunnel along the line. The only thing that I did not make authentic is the single main line from Shoo Fly to Pinkerton Tunnels. I kept that as a double mainline for ease of operation. Everything else though seemed to work out. Tracks 1 and 2 of the mainline fell in the correct positions along the way.

I am also including the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie from Sinns (Liberty Boro), PA to Connelsville, PA. The Chessie System had trackage rights on the P&LE in the Pittsburgh area. On my layout that will cover the shared line of the P&LE from Sinns to Rankin.
