Welcome to "Kelso's" web site! Kelso was born in Wolcott, Connecticut on March 13, 2001. Her registered name is - Cossacks Dark Angel. Both of her parents are ASCA/AKC registered Australian Shepherds and show dogs. She was one of eight black tri puppies born to ASCA/AKC CH Cossack Genesis. We first met her when she was six weeks old. When we went to the breeder we met her mom, grandpa and cousin before we saw her. She was my husbands first dog and we wanted to make sure that the Aussie would fit in our house and match the personality we were searching for.

Kelso was named for the racehorse, Kelso. (Kelso aka "King Kelly" There has probably never been a horse before or since who has dominated racing for such a long period as Kelso. He raced for 8 years during which he was elected Horse of the Year 5 times and set or equaled 15 track records. He retired the current all time record money earner with $1,977,896 in earnings, truly amazing when you consider the maximum purse for most of those races was $100,000. His lifetime record was 63 starts with 39 wins, 12 seconds, and 2 thirds.) We were supposed to get a boy puppy, so the name Kelso would have fit, but last minute we took the rowdy girl and my heart was already set on the name – so she has a boys name.

Kelso's registered name (Cossacks Dark Angel) is from a TV show which has since been canceled. The Cossack part is for the kennel she comes from.

Just so you know, Kelso is a Black Tri, Australian Shepherd. An interesting thing about her breed is that they do not have tails. So when you see pictures of her on this website sans a tail, you'll know why :-)
