On August 30th 2000, I was able to King Diamond in person for the first time at the House of Blues. Of course this was on the House of God tour and it was cool experience. I had never gotten to see him live before and this tour was nice because he played a few songs from every era. The set list was as follows for the show I was at:
Out From the Asylum(Intro)
Welcome Home
Invisible Guest
Voodoo
Sarah's Night
Sleepless Nights
Upon The Cross(intro)
Follow The Wolf
House of God
Black Devil
Help!
The Candle(intro)
The Candle/Dressed In White
Eye Of The Witch
Burn
Funeral
Abigail
Black Horsemen
Encore 1: Family Ghost
Encore 2: No Presents For Christmas
It was wild when King came out on stage and sang that first note so high, its one thing to hear it on the cd, but its a whole other thing to see and her him do it in the flesh! It was unreal. I was in the front row of the concert and it made for a truely memorable show. One more than one occasion King came over to trade hands and high octave screams with me. It was wild, locking eyes with him while both of us were screaming like banshees on fire:) He has a very humorous side to his show, but its not tacky at all. He has a good time on stage and that adds to the magic of the show. During the song Follow the Wolf in the line "There is was, the house of god!" He interjected "House of Blues" and pointed to the club logo on the back drop of the stage, I thought that was great! I didn't to actually meet the King but I did come away with a few goodies, mainly thanks to my friend Kim. She managed to get me a Tea Bag and the Setlist that was on the stage, then she got it signed by the girl Jodi who did all of the acting on stage with King. I caught a guitar pick, Kim managed to get two guitar picks. After the show I bought a T-shirt, thought about buying two, but decided that one was enough. I left that show with a very good feeling, it was a very good time indeed!
