Summer Marie was born January 18, 2003 at 9:44 am. Weighing in at 4lbs 15oz and 18.5 inches long, she was the smallest baby in the nursery. When she was born her APGAR was 5, 9. She never cried until after an hour of trying to get a reaction out of her, they handed her to her dad, and then she started crying. The nurses nicknamed her "Baby Bird", because she kept trying to lift her head and would let out little chirps. She had a head of blonde hair and the bluest eyes that we had ever seen. She was so small that newborn diapers were falling off of her and a very nice nurse went to the NICU and got us some preemie diapers. Most of the clothes that we put on her was way to big and so Gamma (momma's mom) went and bought some preemie outfits for her. After 3 days in the hospital (4 for Momma) we were ready to go home. When Summer was all dressed and ready to go, Momma sat down and cried because her "going home" outfit was so big on her that they had to roll the sleeves and pant legs. Aunt Jessie and Uncle Allen were there to help us get everything ready to go home. Aunt Jessie was also there to help learn how to use Summer's apnea monitor so that Momma wouldn't be the only one that knew how to work it. After getting Summer all bundled up and making sure that there were no wires tangled up we made it into the car and on our way home. |
