The Old Man And The Butterfly

Once upon a time in a land far far away.......
There was  an old man who lived in a small cottage near the woods.
He was a very lonely old man ,who found his company in his love for nature.
One day while walking through the woods, the nice old man found a cocoon.
As lonely as he was,he decided to take the cocoon home and watch its beautiful transformation to a butterfly.
He gently placed the cocoon on his kitchen table and watched over it for days.
Seven days went past and the old man noticed the cocoon was moving frantically, the poor butterfly struggled and struggled to break free.
The old man felt so sorry for the butterfly,
that he rushed to its aide with a surgical scalpel and gently slit the cocoon,so the butterfly could emerge.
With one slice the butterfly broke free from the cocoon only to wilt over in a complete motionless state.
The old man felt terrible,he didnt know what to think.
He thought he had accidentally killed the butterfly, but it started to move slightly.
Perplexed and dumbfounded, he then thought the butterfly was sick.
He felt so sorry for the little butterfly that he decided the best thing to do for the helpless creature ,was to place it back in its cocoon.
He did so,and gently sealed the cocoon with a drop of honey.
The next day the cocoon was moving again, just as it had before.
The old man stood in awe, as he watched the butterfly break free from the cocoon.
The butterfly stretched its  beautiful wings far and wide.
It looked around and and then took off into the air,
The old man was so over come with joy!
The butterfly flew and flew and was almost out of the old mans sight.
He wondered what he had done wrong in trying to help the poor butterfly before.
The old man went into town and visited the local library, and read every book he could find about butterflies and cocoons.
The answers came to him and he realized that the butterfly struggled and struggled inside its cocoon to gather its strength.
Thats what butterflies were  made to overcome in order to be strong and beautiful.
The old man suddenly felt saddened, yet relieved too.
It was his own perception that made the butterfly appear to be having a hard time.
The old man discovered that loving something, sometimes means
that you must let nature take its course.
Love something with all your heart but make sure you give it time to grow and strengthen.
